You can actually buy the emulation ritual from Lewis Masonic if you want. All 3 degrees and some of the tracing board lectures comes in one handy book.
Think the key in any successful relationship is communication. If you want things to work, talk to your partner. This would be a perfect instance. Right now you don't know what she's thinking, everything is based on assumptions. And that is most often not a good route to go down.
And not to be an ass, but a Bro is something you find a the club who you go chasing women with. A Brother on the other hand is a person that has your back for life and that you can lean on.
Small, but important difference ;)
I agree with that, but would almost rather say that instead of involving them, we should set expectations. It should be expected that you show up well dressed, that you work on your proficiency, that you join at least one committee and that you take part in the stated meetings. Far to often we...
I think what a lot of us wants, both in Texas and elsewhere, is the Grand Lodge actually start talking about some of the problems we have and issues we see out there in the local lodges. Joint affiliation with PHA, economy on local and grand lodge levels, Traditional Observance etc. are all...
In some jurisdictions is a joke that's played on the new EA before his initiation. People will ask if he remembered to bring carrots for the goat as it might bite otherwise when he has to ride it.
I must admit that I've unfortunately both been a recipient and a participant of this hazing, which I at the time though was pretty funny. However after having been a mason for a while I've changed my mind, and think that this is just another thing that detracts from the experience rather than...
Very good post, and agree. Must however say though that with the present generation think we will need something to offer them when we take them under our wing. They don't seem to be as happy with just hanging around chitchatting and doing fish frys as previous generations.
Good analysis. The one thing I however would caution about is to equate high membership numbers with good masonry, or masonic success.
Personally I'd rather take a small number of true masonic brethren any day, than a large number of men that should never have been admitted.
But the analysis...
Good work on you.
One of the things I often think the fraternity focus to little about is helping at home with our own brothers. We're good at donating to the Shriners, helping the community and doing food and toy drives. But when's the last time someone painted a widows house, cooked for a...
Monsignor - think it would be beneficial if you would share your findings on here. I'm sure a lot of lodges would love to hear what's out there and how they work.
Just saw on another forum that It was just reported to that the GL of Florida, meeting in annual communication, struck down the GM's Ruling and Decision #3 regarding "incompatible" religions. Haven't verified it, but the source is good, so would trust it.
The sad thing is just that many people feel like this. We need to start having some of these discussion at Grand Lodge as part of the democratic process. A cornerstone of masonry is listening to opposing viewpoints and then making the best decision for the Craft as a whole.
That is what we owe...
Good article, thanks for that.
I personally believe that one of the sad things with today's masonry is that masons no longer believe we have, or hold the power of secrets. We've spent so long debunking it that we've started believing it ourselves.
I believe that Masonry do posses secrets in...
