Make Room For A New GL in Texas

Amazing. What I don't get is what do they get out of it? Is there money in it so they are something as simple as a con artist, or is it the prestige of the degrees or?

Valley of Houston Stated Meeting and Feast of Consistory

You'll generally see suits at the Valley of Houston. I would also say 70% tie, but that's a little more hit or miss.

    Freemasonry in Sweden

What Dfreybur said. But it should also be noted that most of the nordic countries has "traditional" blue lodges working the degrees in one form as known in the UK. These allow non-Christians to be accepted. Moving on past the 3rd degree then becomes a discussion if you are not Christian. Much as...

    Masonic Restoration Foundation Symposium Cincinnati

Strongly considering it, but not sure if time will allow. It was a really good event last year.

    Travel to jersey

If you have time go visit the Grand Lodge of New York down on 23rd street. Pretty impressive building.

    Calendars?

Denmark use them too, and believe they are also called an Arbejdstavle or trestle-board as it is often translated too.

    Grand Master Conferences (AF&AM)

Anyone been to one this year? The message is supposed to be quite refreshing and revolutionary.

Dues--What's too low and what's too high?

And that is true, but the really interesting statistic is comparing to dues in the 1860's. Can't remember the specific calculations, but believe it would be several thousands a year.

Dues--What's too low and what's too high?

I think most people will be willing to pay more and a higher amount if they felt they got a quality experience for the money. But that's another discussion. I recently read a suggestion that one should pay 365 USD in membership. Because 1 dollar per day to be a mason shouldn't be high to anyone...

    Fireside discussion group

We've had some pretty good talks about applying the working tools (and tenants) to our daily life. Understanding the obligation is always usual too. Discussing texts from Old Tyler Talks or anything from Wilmhurst should also provide some good time. Good luck

    Has this occurred?

Thanks for the info. I was not aware of that.

    Has this occurred?

I do agree that racism may play a part in it, but as far as I understand a much more fundamental piece also is in there - Money. As I've heard the story, one of the hesitations for the PH side to allow visitation is that their dues often is much higher than on the other side. What would prevent...

    Chamber of Reflection

What the whole debacle with the CoR basically comes down to when you look at it is the fact that when set up properly it has a skull in it, which many masons are very afraid will scare the profane and confirm that we are in fact devil worshipers. Most of the discussions will be centered about...

    Freemasons in Denmark.

Let us know how it goes. Main thing to be aware of in the Nordic countries in general, and Denmark in particular. Is that they both have the Swedish Rite and then also English Craft Masonry. The Swedish Rite is under DDFO and has a requirement that you are a Christian. Craft Masonry (Lauget in...

    Freemasons in Denmark.

Depending on where you live most of the lodges will have various informational meeting on a regular basis. DDFO usually has a schedule up for each individual lodge. If you're in Copenhagen I would suggest to visit Zorobabel og Frederik Til det Kronede Haab (Z og F).

    Chamber of Reflection

See I think the above is where you may be wrong. Though we are seeing a general trend towards a more formal and traditional form of masonry in many of the urban lodges, I do not think the same winds are blowing in the rural parts of Texas, and most certainly not in Grand Lodge. I would...

    The Swedish Rite

There has been some discussion about importing the Swedish rite to the US, not necessarily to confer degrees, but more as an appendant body that could exemplify the degrees. However one of the main problems with this is actually that under the Swedish rite a mason can only belong to one lodge...

The Scottish Rite Cathedral is very nice and definitely worth seeing. Especially since it's only 10 min from The Alamo
