Amazing. What I don't get is what do they get out of it? Is there money in it so they are something as simple as a con artist, or is it the prestige of the degrees or?
What Dfreybur said. But it should also be noted that most of the nordic countries has "traditional" blue lodges working the degrees in one form as known in the UK. These allow non-Christians to be accepted. Moving on past the 3rd degree then becomes a discussion if you are not Christian. Much as...
And that is true, but the really interesting statistic is comparing to dues in the 1860's. Can't remember the specific calculations, but believe it would be several thousands a year.
I think most people will be willing to pay more and a higher amount if they felt they got a quality experience for the money. But that's another discussion.
I recently read a suggestion that one should pay 365 USD in membership. Because 1 dollar per day to be a mason shouldn't be high to anyone...
We've had some pretty good talks about applying the working tools (and tenants) to our daily life.
Understanding the obligation is always usual too.

Most of the discussions will be centered about...
Let us know how it goes. Main thing to be aware of in the Nordic countries in general, and Denmark in particular. Is that they both have the Swedish Rite and then also English Craft Masonry. The Swedish Rite is under DDFO and has a requirement that you are a Christian. Craft Masonry (Lauget in...
Depending on where you live most of the lodges will have various informational meeting on a regular basis. DDFO usually has a schedule up for each individual lodge.
If you're in Copenhagen I would suggest to visit Zorobabel og Frederik Til det Kronede Haab (Z og F).
See I think the above is where you may be wrong. Though we are seeing a general trend towards a more formal and traditional form of masonry in many of the urban lodges, I do not think the same winds are blowing in the rural parts of Texas, and most certainly not in Grand Lodge.
I would...
There has been some discussion about importing the Swedish rite to the US, not necessarily to confer degrees, but more as an appendant body that could exemplify the degrees. However one of the main problems with this is actually that under the Swedish rite a mason can only belong to one lodge...
