The attached is the standard rules and regulations that GLoTX suggest for lodges to change and adopt. It's got a section on committees, which I've outlines below.
However I'm pretty sure that none of these are required by law, they are just suggested.
Worshipful Master:
Arbitration...
I know nothing about the history of MWPHGLoTX at all, but guess the best way would be to treat this source as any others, meaning
- Is it possible to find any info on the author and whether he was a trustworthy fellow? Did he in fact have the posts and titles that he claim?
- Is there anything...
Good question. Check http://www.gloklahoma.com/documents/MCFtornado.pdf
and also the below message from their website
The Masonic Service Association of North America (MSANA) is coordinating out-of-state donations. Details for donation should be out no later than 22 May. Please visit their...
Out of curiosity how many lodges has received this letter? Mine has gotten a similar one, and we almost though it was something we did wrong. Is this a standard one that has been sent out to all lodges or?
Becoming a new EA is always such an interesting thing, because there are many books you want to read, but you can't in fear of ruining something.
My advice would be to focus on two things initially. One learning the work, but secondly understanding it and applying it. Many masons just learn how...
The explanation is good (though I'm not sure I would have written all of it down, but that's another topic), however if you guys put him in a room that is designated as a Chamber of Reflection and therefore also has the traditional symbols, mirrors, skull etc. then that is presently not accepted...
The books Cracking the Freemasons Code: The Truth About Solomon's Key and the Brotherhood by Robert L.D. Cooper and The Origins of Freemasonry: Scotland's Century, 1590 to 1710 by David Stevenson are probably two of the best books you'll get on the historical background of Freemasonry. They are...
I think it depends a lot on your lodge, as all are different and have different needs, but personally I'd say that anything touched on in Laudable Pursuit http://traditionalobservance.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/KOTN_-_Laudable_Pursuit.pdf would be driving masonry in the right direction.
The actual behavior of Masons is one of the thing that has disappointed me the most about Masonry I must say. We have to much backtalk and interpersonal crap going in our lodges that doesn't belong there. But that's another discussion.
First as others have said, I don't think you were in the...
The idea may be good, but it comes down to the same thing as with any other organization. Who's going to do it and where will the money come from? Putting it on the GL setup could be an idea, but it still doesn't solve the logistical problems.
And to be honest I must admit that I don't see...
Most of your past Masters should be familiar with how to make resolutions for Grand Lodge and word it correctly. It would be interesting to see one that could spur the debate on some of the traditional aspects we don't see worked over here.
The one thing I'd have to warn against however is...
Thanks for the very enlightening post. Which naturally leads to the question that you touch on above. Does anyone have a clue how the Texas Endowment fund is performing? Does GL ever release info about this? Who even manages it?
I agree with you Cliff, and reading the article I must admit that I think that sometimes believing in the best of people has to stop a little earlier than what happened there. If you catch an employee in stealing 55,000 USD you don't keep them in the job, no matter how much of a Masonic brother...
I think it's a very admirable effort, and it would be interesting to hear what replies you got. I'm unfortunately a pessimist on this subject and don't think you would get much, but that does certainly not mean it shouldn't be done.
Call a couple of the bigger Grand Lodges and let's hear what...
Thanks to BroBill for the insight. On the topic of endowments I think I'm probably alone, but I really believe they are a bad idea presently. When the funds were returning good money the idea of pooling assets was smart, but I think what we've given up to much and ended up with is a big issue...
This is the key essence I think you hit right here. Masonry is supposed to teach you how to be a better man through the symbols and rituals, and if it achieves that all the other things will follow. It's kinda like paving a golden path to follow which will bring a lot of good stuff with it.
I...
I don't want to comment on whether or not 1,000 USD is high to move membership, but the fact that you expect the prices to remain the same since 1988 seems a little unrealistic to me. The fact of the matter is that inflation is going up, membership is going down and the temples aren't becoming...
Well, I'd suggest to not post in a thread that is on a completely different subject to be honest, but once that is done, check out the website for the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, and find a lodge in your area. http://www.grandlodge-nc.org/ - if you already know where one is, it is actually as...
The challenge with the work in Blue Lodge - making good men better, is that it's very hard to see an quantify. You can easily point to a hospital and say "we've helped x number of kids," but not so with Masonry. It has always been a "secret" place where few people not initiated knew what was...
