    Custom Aprons?

Thanks Bill, I knew you'd come through for us ;) But if we're strictly going by the letter of the law does that mean that PM aprons cannot be adorned differently than officers aprons, except for the additions? I think that many lodges add symbols, tassels and other stuff to their PM aprons far...

    Custom Aprons?

Texas has the same. I'm sure Brother Bill will be around tomorrow, to quote the correct paragraph to us. He's usually the resident expert on GL law.

    Let's Make a Difference

I'm pretty sure it was reported at GL this year that GLoTX was ready to move forward, but that the PH GL had pulled the plug. But maybe someone that went can clarify? I know it go further complicated by the complaint from the GL of Ivory Coast though.

    York Rite Reading?

Only thing to note about Born in Blood is that though it is a good read, it's so wildly inaccurate that it's close to almost being fiction. So I wouldn't necessarily suggest it if you are looking for more light from the York rite degrees.

    York Rite Reading?

Congrats. Mackey wrote both a "Book of the Chapter" and a "Manual of the Council" which could be a start. I haven't read them though, so can't vouch for how good they are. Otherwise several of the older texts include the Royal Arch in many of their normal blue lodge texts so that is an option...

Brother Pete Normand,JR on the Traditional Lodge Model

Brother Ecossais. Let me start out with saying that I do not understand the need for the condescending tone in your two above posts. We're having a good debate, and you sound like a learned man that has much to offer, but if this comes with being scolded, I doubt many with listen. But let me...

    York Rite Masonry

The degrees are progressive, so I know you have to go through them at least. Whether you could chose afterwards to not maintain membership of the Chapter and Council, but only the Commandry I don't technically know. I wouldln't think so, but it may be a loophole in some jurisdictions.

    Masonry

Seeing as this grand lodge unfortunately is an irregular institution. You'll probably have problems joining any form of regular freemasonry including the Scottish Rite. I'd suggest to join a regular one, if you're not further along in your travels than presently.

    Master Craftsman Question

And if you need Morals and Dogma, it's fairly easy to find a pdf version online. At least of one of the older versions.

    What's a brother to due

I'm not a PM, but have been in leadership situations in other organizations and I agree with what Brother Bowden said above. Becoming a PM doesn't mean that you should stop all the good things you've been doing for your lodge the last seven years, it just means that there is time to refocus the...

Brother Pete Normand,JR on the Traditional Lodge Model

I agree a lot with Brother Vick above. One of the problem as I see it, is that the size of lodges we have also means that we will have members in them with many different interest. It's hard to accommodate everyone if half the lodge wants fish frys and the other half wants intellectual...

Brother Pete Normand,JR on the Traditional Lodge Model

Ecossais. I do not presume to speak for brother Hatley, but I think you missed the point he was trying to make. As I read it the elegance of dress is to achieve two things. Firstly to show a certain reverence towards the craft and the work we are engaged in, and secondly to ensure brethren met...

    Grand East

I agree with this. In the European jurisdictions I know of where people sit for a longer term, they usually always have a good setup with assistants, deputies, proxies etc. that cover many duties. I think that is required to make it work.

Masonic Cornerstone Denied by Ga. County Commissioners

I think the more sad thing that can be taken from this story is the fact that the public these days don't really understand what masonry is about and this would prefer us not to lay their cornerstone. It is my impression that in the past, it was an honor to have this bestowed by a lodge, and...

    Grand East

I think that for both Grand Lodge officers and local officers a year in the chair is not very long. Before you know what you're doing you are almost gone. The positions are serious and important ones, much like being an officer in a company, and there you'd never see someone only sit for a year...

    Free Speech

Free speech, yes. Free action, no. I should probably expand that a little and say that I don't think our Grand Lodges are the big bad boogeymen that they are often made out to be. They are in a touch situation that the have to care for the good of the craft. In these media times, the stupid...
