    Cipher Books In Lodge

IMO the cipher book is a great learning/teaching tool when a Brother is not available to help instruct you. I learned much of the three lectures using the cipher and then getting help with the encoded parts. It is an invaluable tool in learning the ritual. In my jurisdiction it is not...

    Baseball

He pitched very well. After the hit, his smile spoke well of him. Great things to come. Please leave him at home when you come to Tampa Bay.

Pena: 1 for 4 w/3k's pretty much his norm although the BA is about 55 pts too high.

    Baseball

Astros going nowhere. Not after signing Carlos Pena. Worst thing the Rays did was resign him and the best, getting rid of him (again). Struck out 35% last year, God only knows how many he left in scoring position, can't hit a sac fly and his defense was so so. Making a million$ this year...

    Dual Membership

Why would feathers be ruffled? IMO you are not disrespecting your home lodge but showing your appreciation/thanks to the other lodge for their courtesy work.

    What not to write?

I estimate 70-75% of our is encoded. Far more than grips, passwords, etc. Just because it may be written on the internet or in some books doesn't release me from my obligations. A lot of variations from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Perhaps your DDGM or a member of the Committeeon Work, if...

    What not to write?

Just my way of doing this; if it is in code in my code book I do not write it. I hear you don't have a cypher in Texas, so I understand your problem

Masonic Membership Statistics, Should be we concerned?

"might cheapen"! They have cheapened. That is what happens when you start chasing after numbers. The sky is not falling....just getting rid of the dead wood.

    EA work

Of course! Being from Texas it would have to be the longest. Just kidding. In FL, the EA catechism is 46 Qs, 46As and in total contains 1808 words to be memorized.

    EA work

It, the catechism, are the directions for the work an EA is to do. Memorizing is the beginning not the end. IMO.

    Big Mistakes

Subduing ones passions is one of the earliest tasks we are asked to undertake ln Masonry. Some would think that passions are necessarily "bad" but those of a "good" nature can become problematic when taken to extremes. They can become superfluities and/or vices which we are counciled to rid...

    What keeps you involved?

The Ritual. The Ritual and a deep affection and respect for a few of my Brothers. Did I mention Ritual?

    A single enemy?

Sad to say, that is the predominant situation around my district and is why I no longer attend lodge. I know, "stay in there and fight for the changes I think are necessary". I've done that for the last 10 yrs and have learned that the vast majority of members are happy with their "social...
