The rush to attract new members

Not necessarily. Growth without firm control of the West Gate is the prime reason FM is in the shape it is today. IMO. As has been said in many different ways..."I'll take quality over quanity every time".

What do you get out of Lodge?

Except for participation in degree work I no longer attend Lodge. There is no interest in M/Edu and although I truly enjoy the company of some Brothers and their wives, I have other social interests besides the lodge.

The rush to attract new members

There is a difference between attraction and promotion. Billboards, tv ads, flyers, etc are promotions/advertisements. Same as solicitation imo. Attraction is individual Freemasons setting examples by doing the right things, being active in the community and worthy causes, etc. These kind...

I would like to see their definition of "active".

    Secrecy

I certainly wouldn't limit this to just "older Brethren". I hear the same from "younger Masons". Both those younger in years and in Masonic experience. I do agree that those that hold these views are perhaps less enlightened.

    Memorization : Best Practices?

Brother Stewart, I certainly agree with your suggestion to utilize the lodge room. Especially for the EA Degree instruction. I walk the Brother thru it several times and it seems that once they get the"chronological" order in their minds it helps tremendously. It helps the Brother to become...

Does your lodge have any programs to bring inactive Masons, back into Freemasonry?

Re: Does your lodge have any programs to bring inactive Masons, back into Freemasonry I realize that there are legitimate reasons for members becoming inactive but imo the majority make it of their own free will. I do not bemoan the loss of members except for those that pass away. I don't...

Does your lodge have any programs to bring inactive Masons, back into Freemasonry?

Re: Does your lodge have any programs to bring inactive Masons, back into Freemasonry I disagree to a point. We have already "appealed" to the inactive member once and lost them for whatever reason(s). The inactive members know when we meet, where the lodge is, etc. If they choose not...

When does man become Mason (Brother)

Likewise in my jurisdiction as to Masonic funeral, but that has nothing to do with when he becomes a Brother.

When does man become Mason (Brother)

IMO, after he takes the EA obligation he is a Brother. In my ritual he is referred to as such.

What "grade" would you give your Lodge?

In what sense? In overall Masonic experience? As compared to neighboring Lodges?

    Club or Fraternity

Sounds like some of the Masonic Lodges around me. Sad to say.

    What does the "Beehive" symbolize?

"......never sitting down contented while our fellow creatures around us are in want; especially when it is in our power to relieve them without inconvenience to ourselves."

What does your Lodge do right?

I am very envious my Brother. I wish that there was a lodge such as yours within 100 miles of me.
