Brothers I'm stoked! One of my lodges just took an application from a gentleman on my floor at work. I made him ask twice. There has also been three or four nibbles in the past several months. Folks are looking for a baseline in this crazy world. We truly can pick and choose good men from...
We're growing. We have good brotherhood and are known as a very friendly lodge to visit. We are now going to teach more masonry. Our new members are demanding it. I'm damn glad they are! Lazy masonry is not acceptable.
It's a close call. We don't teach freemasonry past the esoteric work in the Blue Lodge. Some instructors feel it is either silly or a waste of time to explain the esoteric work to the candidates. I am hopeful that things are changing though.
The young guys coming in are very interested in...
I'm glad he won. But I'd be happier if he ran right out of Auburn and into the NFL. Damn, we beat Alabama and Flordia in the same year and finish third in the division. Damn!
Geaux Tigers ... jwhoff
I'd say we cover it fairly well in the FC degree though some try to forget the "unto all mankind" and would rather emphasis the "especially unto" part. Remember brethren, we're sworn to the triad relationship between the GAOTU, ourselves, and our fellow man.
Too many folks just didn't get...
Agreed brethren. Just a little curious as to whether Blake has received any death threats for posting this link. After all, the idea wasn't too well received in Galilee.
Still trying to make sense of the madness ... jwhoff
No candidate should be exposed to a code book. Brother Bill_Lins77488's definition of a candidate puts the finishing touches on the argument. It is not permitted and should not be tolerated. Period. Exclamation point.
Good start! Welcome aboard and keep those traveling boots close.
Keep us all posted on your quest. And, make sure you start reading that bibliography located in the back of the last blue pamphlet you received after your raising. Be a learned brother. Let your light shine brightly!
Yo! Blackbeard! Pace yourself brother! Here's a big keep it real from the northwest side of Houston. I didn't escape any place, I just crossed the Sabine River from Louisiana to make a living. Then I found other Cajuns doing the same thing over here in the western parishes.
God bless ...
Indeed! Far too many go the long route and have trouble digesting their instruction. The possibility that a man can obtain three Blue Lodge and 29 Scottish Rite degrees in a couple of weekends is horrendous. Initiation implies some form of transformation. Couldn't see how anything but the...
Brother Camerata,
Good to have you aboard. Even better to see that you are interested in brightening up your travels. To few are. We need more masons who study and take the craft seriously.
Stay hungry ... jwhoff
I lean yes. But only because some of them find other, and less masonic, things to do with their time. Like General Forrester of KKK fame. He was but an EA. Not sure whether he learned much work thereafter or not. Too many folks still throw it in your face that some are considered masons...
On several levels:
1) I was a little surprised that I had so much in common with so many creeds.
2) I immediately thought about how much each of the various creeds had in common.
3) The clincher: I then thought about how much time they spent on their differences as opposed to their many...
I saw it. It probably didn't play well with the disinterested population. Wild accusations tend to paint the accuser into the corner.
Curiosity about the craft never hurts. Up until a few years ago, I didn't hear much from the profane world about masonry. I do get many comments from folks...
