I think one of the tricks with introducing this kind of stuff is that you really have to know your audience and be willing to ease them into things. For example, I'd personally love to hear a lecture on Hermitism or Kabbalah but I think it'd do more to alienate the brethren than anything else...
I've done the same thing but it's often our own fault for allowing it to happen. I've learned from experience that building a strong mentor/student relationship and taking the time to teach them the lessons of each degree goes a long way to really build retention and reinforce lessons however.
I realize you may have been trying to be funny but the truth is I think that's the situation in a nutshell. The majority (good ol' boy club) views esoteric masons as a weird minority with dangerous ideas that could scare people away. I hope one day the tables turn though.
Is there anywhere this resolution can be read online?
As for a moratorium for review...why? Should lodges have to get permission to move their charter into their dining room? I'd hope there would be enough sense to insure your meeting is tiled regardless if it's in the lodge room or the...
You know, looking at the link you provided, the 20's really stick out the most to me. 3 mil is a lot of masons when you consider the smaller populations of the time. Granted, it dwindled a good bit before the boom of the 50's and 60's but I still wonder what was so different in the early part...

The ritual and catechism is essential, no doubt, but I think there are...
This is sad and disturbing. Glad I'll be going to GL this year.
As far as revitalization goes, I agree with you about the approach but I'm curious if it's an uphill battle that'd best be focused towards our Blue Lodges as opposed to the Shrine at this juncture? The tail can't wag the dog...
What about a Grand Lodge's sovereignty? Removing AR recognition really shows a lack of respect for that IMO.
Is not recognizing the Shrine a horrible masonic offense of some sort? Masonry has been around long before the Shrine and will probably exist for quite some time after as well IMO.
I'm...
Commandries have the option of going cap and mantle here in Texas, I think they're still expected to have those silly costumes for inspection though.
I'd prefer just having the option of wearing the old black, triangular aprons myself.
Very neat! I like this idea very much, I feel the rough/smooth ashlars are symbols that get too little attention here in Texas.
