I watched a movie called "September Dawn" about the masacre of some settlers by Mormons in the 1800's. In the movie, the young men were being given some ritual to adulthood. As I watched it I was shocked. It held over half of the second degree of Freemasonry including the penalty. They even...
While I was in Waco, TX we had a guest speaker one night at our lodge. I forget his name but he was the local weatherman that wore his S&C on his lapel pin during his TV broadcast. He said he was at an elementary school talking to a classroom about weather and afterward one of the kids came up...
On facebook (publice places) I've had some strong political disagreements with people and Brothers. I have never attacked a Brother online for his disagreements or beliefs but I have been attacked. Usually I drop them from my friends list if they do not wish to discuss certain topics without...
This reminds me of an UFO special I watched where they showed a video of a "space craft" that had landed in a farmers field. It was night and there were several lights around it and smoke coming out from under it. They flashed a sheet of notebook paper that the farmer had taken notes on and...
RW Drouin (pronounced drew-in) is a friend of mine. A good friend of his will be taking his degrees in my lodge in Duxbury. What was not mentiond was his many years of service to South Shore DeMolay. Up here, many newspaper or online news sites have been running postive articles like this...
The real question is what is it about this fraternity that when men join they remain in it until they die? I've posed this question in response to a young man who said "isn't that an old mans club"?
Up here in the NE they have cleared up a a few inacuracies in the original reports on this incident.
-The boy was not suspended.
-They didn't originally tell you that the boy had wrote his own name above the body on the cross.
-The picture shown by the media was not the one in question...
I hated to hear the lawyer say
The things my grandpa gave away.
Like his old truck to Dad and Mom
And world war medals to Uncle John
My name was called
And something was said
About an old wooden box
Underneath his bed.
Just a worn out chest
With a rusty hinge
But I knew Grandpa...
In MA, they have left the memory work optional and pretty much all lodges go with out it. They do have the monthly Lodge of instruction which all candidates are required to attend. They are given a scaled down proficiency in a group session for about an hour and a half and then we go to lodge...
I too have a MM ring from Gordon Spurlock. I've had it 9 years now and never take it off. I clean it with baking soda and it looks great. How does the PM ring look? Does the emblem come out large enough? I've been wanting to get one.
Re: Big Changes in Pennslvana Masonry
I love it! I have sat in a PA lodge in Forks Township outside Easton and I know they would agree with most of the ideas.
Ok Brothers, last year I pushed hard about a book I got from my wife for Christmas in 2007 called "Twelve Mighty Orphans". It is the true story about the Mighty Mites from the Texas Masonic Home. It is the best sports book I have ever read and I've read a few. As a Texan and a Mason, it is a...
Hippie,
10 million workers at 10$ per worker comes to 100 million dollars a week. Matching funds from employers would make it 200 million a week. Multiply that by 52 weeks and that's 10.4 billion dollars per year. Wow that seems so simple. Employers would have no problem with 10$ per...
Brothers,
As some of you know, I am from TX but my job has moved me to several states over the last ten years finally moving me to southern Maine this year. An opportunity has come to me and I will be flying down, sometime next week, to Waco, TX to interview for a job I had some years ago...
