Is one lodge better than another?

I believe the biggest difference may be the activity that each lodge conducts. Some lodges like to focus on family events and some like fundraising. Some may do both quite often. Some have larger attendence and some have younger members on average. It all depends on your interest. I agree...

What issues are negatively impacting your Lodge?

Re: What's wrong with Freemasonry in Texas? In MA, the District Deputy must visit every lodge in his district twice in a year, one "official" and one "fraternal". The top three officers of each lodge in that district MUST accompany him on each visit. So if you have 7 lodges thats 18 plus the...

Meals -- Before or after the meeting

During the meeting in MA. We usually break for refreshment and go to dinner after opening and doing any first half ritual. After dinner we return and do our business meeting then what ever part two ritual we have.

    Lodge Membership

Since 2000 in MA, the average age of a Mason dropped 5 years from 67 to 62. Part of that was the change in initiation age from 21 to 18. Hard pushes with open houses since 2005 have also helped. We were having one open house a year. Now it's up to two a year or more if your lodge wants to.

    Dunham Lodge #150 F & AM - Covington, TN

For your start up, I think it looks great. It has a great calendar page. The questions I always pose to some of the web masters is to look at it as if you were someone just trying to find out information about their local lodge. -Does it give good information on contacting someone...

LA puts Prince Hall recognition on the next GL agenda

A couple of years ago, we had some Masons from LA visiting Orleans lodge in MA. The Master of the LA lodge was originally from MA and a member of the Orleans lodge. They had sent a request to the PHA GL in Boston asking to visit and was told they would be honored however, their LA jurisdiction...

    Gift cards

When people ask what I want, I tell them gift cards but I try to designate from where. That way I can get a larger sum for one big purchase. My last digital camera came from Best Buy purchased from christmas gift cards.

    Instructions for Life

I've always told my kids the 4 R's: -Respect your elders. -Respect other peoples property. -Respect other peoples opinion. -Respect yourself. You can pretty much stay out of trouble by following these.

    Removing a Member

I was told that MA GL had passed that no lodge in MA can exceed membership of 150. This helped create more lodges and kept members from being "lost" in the membership. It has worked pretty well. Also, as far as expelling a brother, I forgot to mention that two years ago the GL of MA passed a...

    Removing a Member

In MA, it's a ten step process to expell a Brother other than the waive of the GM's hand. It could take a few months.

Article in Waco paper about Grand Lodge

I once replied to an Anti-Mason web site letting him know how funny he was and he told me that I just didnt' know the true meaning and that he had been threatend several times by Masons and that's why he can't post any personal information. I told him if we were really all that powerful don't...

    Tranquility Lodge #2000 AF&AM

When I first visited a lodge in MA they were telling me about some of the lodges outside the borders of the US that fell under the MA Jurisdiction such as Japan and Panama. They asked me if TX had anything like that and I told them I didn't know about other countries but we did have a lodge on...

    Club or Fraternity

Re: Club or Fraterny VERY nicely put Brother! I agree. Freemasonry is a way of life and the actions you take it just happens that we tend to take some of those actions together. You can join a lodge and never go to another meeting but live as a Mason in every sense of the word.
