I would echo Bro Winter - don't go wreaking anything in your future Degrees... There are some good sources suggested above (but remember, you are often not reading "fact" but opinion and/or common interpretations), but if you are a beginner and interested in History...
The best way of thinking about the etiquette of masonic correspondence is peer to peer or within groups with someone in the group being about to write outside it. Members can informally write to members. Only GSec should write to other GSecs (or their reps). GM to GM. WM to WM etc. A big factor...
I am a Companion but under a Grand Chapter.
I'm always focusing on the likely next office I will find myself in... but the Open and Close is an obvious place to start so you know who is who in the lodge room in regards to officers..
More - in the damage section closer to the hilt, there seems something which looks like a pair of pliers.

Newspapers can also be really handy as a quick way to have a look and see if lodges put death notices in. They often did here in Australia, probably would be the same in the USA.. but Winter is correct, Grand Lodge records are the most definative ...

Interestingly one of the lodges used as a model here in Victoria for this is actually in trouble and not...
I think it is simple, people can't join us if they don't know we exist.. and men will be more likely to join if they understand the true benefits of being a mason... so talk about what you like about being a Freemason.
Not sure here. While we don't do ceremonial on line here... we have embraced ZOOM meetings, not only for regularly summoned business meetings, but also committee meetings on line.
Coach's advice is very good. We do not have a monopoly on being a good organisation... but also, we're a fraternity and not a service organisation. Freemasonry (I think) is a philosophical system for good moral conduct that brings diverse men together in fraternity. Also, we don't work...
