Could not agree more. I have seen the finacial report and for over 11% of our budget to go to produce so fine of a newsletter as the Texas Mason is a travesty. Not when the people they are comparing our per capita to produces this...http://www.cafreemason-digital.com/cafreemason/201001#pg1...
I too agree Bro. Ashton. I challenge anyone that is a dues paying member of the Grand Lodge to contact Grand Lodge and request the Budget sheet for this year. The funny thing is this is published each year in the Grand Lodge Preceedings and no one has questioned the spending until now. I read...
Brother, Thank you for your post. I really appreciate the lesson you bring and it is a good one but a question I always ask is why go suspended for NPD? Every letter is sent as Secretary stated that there are a few options from demiting for a year to the Lodge paying you dues. I have never been...
Couple of things to remember here. The Grand Lodge you are looking at joining may not allow you to join unless you lived there for a specific amount of time in their jurisdiction so you may not want to demit right away. Secondly the Grand Jurisdiction may not allow you to plural or dual leaving...
Well since the inception of this post our meetings have been so much better. Our meetings are short but powerful. The average meeting is 45 to 60 minutes. Last Stated Meeting we has Steak from Texas De Brazil since the GM is our Steward. We showed up and there we table cloths, place settings...

Brother Tom Shelton, Past Master of Fort Worth Masonic Lodge No. 148, has just handed Grand Secretary Tommy Guest his statement of availibility for the Grand South. He is truly a great progressive forward thinker that in his time as an officer has changed Fort Worth 148's 150+ year...
But this is the catch 22 on this issue. We have a fraternal obligation to perfom charlitable actions but as we define them they are acts of charity and sometimes can not be recorded or documented. Then we have a state requirement that is casusing us to keep this record and the fact is no one...
Ok, lets tackle this one. Recently all the Lodges in Texas received an exemption from ad volerum taxes. As part of this tax we are told that we must keep a record of of our "Charitable" work. I have put so much thought into this since I was told we were getting this exemption. My problem with...
Re: Absolutely!
Well there are "irregular" Lodges in Texas. I personally have heard a number of over 10. I personally have met one person that was not Grand Lodge of Texas AF&AM or Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas F&AM but considered himself to be a Mason in Texas.
The thing that I am really liking is the fact that several thousand Masons can get in a room and debate a topic that is so monumental and come out alive. Regardless of the outcome the fact that resolutions like this are being brought up is showing that this should be looked at. I like just the...
Our last stated meeting Bro. Tom Shelton made a request that the Lodge pay for a microwave and some supplies for a group in Afganistan. It passed and they sent us a picture of our shipment. I strongly urge Lodges to get in touch with a local military family or group and find out what they need...
Going through it was the EA but I love doing a Masters. The lessons talked about in the lecture are ones I think about a lot. Sad thing is each one is special.
I have put a little thought in this and I do think it is unfair to think this is common. I think this is not the norm but the fact is it is happening at various Lodges around the state. I think this would help give the Lodges help that need it and it would serve as protection for the Grand Lodge...
