Not being a Shriner, I am not sure I should comment, but some know I will... I have transported a number of kids to Galveston when I was still working in EMS/Fire. I appreciate the work that was done for the kids, and support for the famiies. I would like to see these hospitals re-open, or stay...
I don't know that I have changed any as far as people being able to see it, but I have noticed a small change in my attitude, or the way I see some things. I enjoy and appreciate the greetings by "old and new" Brothers at my home Lodge, and others I go to. This makes me feel good, and I in turn...
When deciding about alcohol, remember Brothers who have had a problem, and may also be members of AA etc. Whether it is supposed to happen or not, some develop a problem, and do not need us putting that in their face for temptation. The one's I know from around the counrty side are pretty...
A little different perspective... Sons teaching Dads. My son has followed a lot in my footsteps, but I love to talk with him, and do more listening these days. He has knowledge I am proud of. Perhaps more will share the same, but "if" he comes in, I may still be able to teach him.
Unfortunately, I am one of those you are talking about. I will try to share some of my thoughts which may explain some of it, but as my Drill Instructor said "There is NO excuse BOY!", so I will give my reasons...
As I graduated H.S., I entered a small Tech School to further my education in...
I'm still searching for family, mostly in Germany, but I guess I am really a second generation of sorts. My Father-in-law was a MM first by many years, and I came up last year. My oldest son talks about it, but wants to complete more college time, and make his next promotion in his F.D. before...
Congratulations Bro. Luke on your work, and interest in continuing. As for the Mortuary Services, there many who own or work in the field who are Brothers. It will not be hard I don't think at all, if you will look and ask. Where are planning to go to school? If I can be of any help with it, let...
Bro. Larry, it is Top Secret, so I sent a PM so non-Masons could not intercept..... well, read it and report back, the response may have been too long for here.
:-)
It's not that I had to do it, I just think that if I can sit, learn the questions and answers, give the work in Lodge, and teach others, it really can't be that hard. I will be 58 in a few months, and was raised just over a year ago. My memory may be better than others, but when you consider my...
It's possible, look at all the satellites we have launched to just fly around other planets. Maybe "they" have even plunged probes into our atmosphere, oceans, and land masses, and taken soil, air, and water/ice samples... it gets eerie when you think about that doesnt it? Here we are thinking...
I agree with Isaac, and find that so much has been talked about in this instance, I have not watched much TV in the past week, not that I watch much anyway. I would also figure Isaac may well be in the Air Force, or has knowledge of PJ's.... The Badge says it all.
As for politics, not sure this...
In the past, when the U.S. acted in a "Police Operation" elsewhere in the World, we entered into an armed conflict, or war. Viet Nam being a conflict, and others designated as a war. Now, if we are not to do anything, sending troops, being the Police etc, then why worry? They weren't worrying...
How much support did Iran send us after either attack on the World Trade Center? The Oklahoma City Bombing? Were they among those who gave us moral support during any of the attacks on the U.S.? Apparently the lines of communications are not altogether severed, or we would not be getting info...
Being a Victim err, Veteran of Viet Nam, I agree that we should not get involved, unless we are going to let OUR troops win. There are lines drawn WE cannot cross, or shoot across, but our enemies do not have to stop there. If we do something against the beliefs of a small few, the U.S., and ALL...
Brother Josh, we have been doing a Pancake Breakfast 1st Saturday of the month. We've had 2 so far, and have made a little extra money for the Lodge. We have it open to all, and in addition to some of the local folks who just want the breakfast, we have had a few Brothers come by, just to see...
We have about 80 or more members. Some have moved off to other areas, too far to drive for the meetings on a regulaer basis. We usually have about 6 or 7 regular who attend Stated Meetings, and 2 or more visitors. Recently, I have talked to some who do not attend like they used to, and I have...
