zero. the large majority of CTs come from folks who have never set foot in a lodge. as for the rest, some of it comes from misinformation, and some from just plain malice, and some to misguided zeal. I give no thought to those who try to create fantasy stories about what they do not know.
I am less versed in Kabbalah than others on this forum. You are correct though, several parallels exist in freemasonry especially in Scottish Rite. I would imagine someone more knowledgeable will chime in here.

Look at it this way. If you are waiting for a Freemasonry to invite you to be a mason, you'll be waiting a long time indeed, hah. No mason will invite you; you must be the one to make the first step and ask.

I echo what nayef said. Given how I saw the world differently after my EA and FC, I wondered how my experience being raised would shade my world views differently. And it most certainly has.
Yeah man, keep that itch to "find out" more under wraps. You really don't wanna risk ruining anything for yourself. Masonry affords a lifetime of learning and contemplation, there will be plenty of time for you to dive in further down the road. For now, just relax and enjoy the process. Take it...
To better address your question, people fear why they do not understand plain an simple. And in a time of non transparency = bad in society's mind, that makes it worse in they eyes of the close minded.

Most of the masses have ZERO idea about anything to do with freemasonry. If you ask them *why* they are concerned it will almost always lead to heresay by a friend of a friend of a friend or a nut job conspiracy theory website.... Or "History" Channel. ;) basically they're concerned for a reason...
