so whats the deal with the mm ring, do i give it to the master so he can give it to me when he raises me? iam confused.
I am a bit confused now, too...lol Are you asking if the WM gives you a ring that the lodge or someone else purchased, or are you asking if you need to provide the ring to the WM to give to you in a ceremony?
I didn't know that there was a ring ceremony. I don't know if this is something that is done in Iowa and not in Texas, or if I just don't know about it cause of my lack of activity due to the military over the years that I have been involved in Masonry. I didn't have a ring ceremony and have been at the raising of other Brothers and didn't hear any mention of one. The night that I was raised, when my father and I got to his house, he gave me his Masonic ring. To me, that was ceremony enough, getting my father's ring, but I think it would have been really neat if there was an official ceremony for it and my father presented to the ring to me there. But I am just fine with how I recieved it this way as it was a really private and meaningful thing from father to son.
Where are you hearing that there is a ring ceremony? I just did a quick (super quick actually...lol) search on the net for a Masonic ring ceremony in hopes that I would find that certain states or jurisdictions do it and how, but I didn't come up with anything. If it is a Brother from your lodge that is telling you this, maybe it is just a lodge based thing they like to do. I would just talk to the/a Brother from your lodge and ask them in particular.
If nobody on here gets you a definite answer, do me a favor and post what you find out from your lodge Brothers as I am curious about this now....lol
