New Lodge Opening

This evening I will be attending the opening of a new lodge on the grounds of the Masonic Homes here in Louisville. As I understand it this will be the first dedication of a new lodge in Kentucky in 35 years. Will add another post after the ceremony.

Just got back. It was a great ceremony with the new lodge opening under dispensation. There were people there representing lodges from all over the state including PHA. The Grand Master presided and installed the officers of the new lodge. Officers of the Grand Lodge attended and numerous Past Grand Masters. A good time was had by all and it was a great experience.

No. It was an indoor ceremony conducted by The Grand Master of Kentucky. After numerous introductions and speeches the Grand Master delivered a short history of Masonry in Kentucky and about the last new lodge that was opened in 1981. The Grand Master then performed the installation of the officers of the new lodge. Then various dignitaries made comments. There were several Past Grand Masters present as well as others from lodges from all over the state. It was a great ceremony and I am very glad that I attended.

Wow, 1981 ? We have about one new one a year in recent years. But it must be admitted several recent ones are amalgamations where lodges decided to dump there old warrants and start afresh.

On starting a new Lodge we have two ceremonies. Firstly, a Consecration which was what i was talking about above. Second, an Installation of WM and Officers.

I saw that version at a re-dedication for the temple when my mother lodge completed a major renovation and another version when a lodge in my Illinois district purchased a new building. Very moving.

I assume that you mean the first MM raised in the new lodge. I plan to be there for it.

Bro your still not being very clear. are you referring to the first time a mnew candidate is initiated, passed and raised? or the first time a brother petitions for membership.

Sounds like the first MM they make.

Make sure you keep some records. I am a foundation member of a Lodge and 2018 will see our 10th year. This year is important: we make our first WM initiated into the lodge who will take the chair in another lodge, later this year we will also have our first member initiated into that young lodge lead it as WM.
