Where can I find the GLoT place for seeing if your family members were masons?

I do a lot of Geneology and one sad thing is that there is not enough people or time to scan old lodge records into some data base... ! you have to know what lodge and then dig thru the records.. ? there is no master data base.. !

yea it costs around 5 dollars to get it done. i've done it before and they used to have it on the lodge website. i dunno where it went though.

Can a mason do the research himself at GLoT?

I was going to try to research my family in Indiana, and as I recall, their Grand Lodge wanted $25.00 per name.... Will try to locate it when I go back later this year. There are about 6 family members I wanted to check on. If they aren't listed, or weren't Mason, I guess it's a contribution to their Grand lodge. I'd prefer to spend most of that for my Lodge, or OUR GL

your GL charges? well for any one of you looking up someone say here in Massachusetts, we have two data bases, the old card system and the computer data base. Our old card system goes back to the early 1700's, there is no charge and you can call the GSec. office and talk to one of the girls, you can also look up the newer data base in the library. Wish it was that easy in Texas for you to do research.

If your looking back into the 1800's in Texas .. ! you have to know the lodge and go directly to that lodge for information.. ! if that lodge is no longer active that the records are on the third floor of Grand Lodge and you have to hunt.. ! if you are looking for someone from 1985 to present the staff at grand lodge has issued a number to everyone and can track... ! not sure of the charge but they have always given me a print out of family members at no charge.. !

I know we are trying to get a lot of our old records in our Lodge DB.

Grand Lodge should put out a call for volunteers to help input old records into the GL DB. It would be a slow process but one that would make life a lot better, plus they would have a backup Master List. They could also send out information requests to Lodges to export information from tehir Lodge DB to import into the GL DB.

I emailed Grand Lodge about this last month and they replied with a form to fill out and told me to mail it in with $10 for a records check.
