Again with 3's, it just occurred to me the year will be 2013, I'll be 33, it will be my 3rd year as a Mason, and the 3rd officer position I will have held.
Wow. The 3 is strong with me.
Mitchell Jones, Grand Tiler of the Grand Lodge of Texas wears an OLD 8x11 cotton apron with the eye on the bib and a S&C on the apron nearly everywhere he goes.
Speaking of Mitchell, meet him if you can. He lives at the TMRC and this man's heart is made of solid gold. He is a good man, a true...
Nothing ever pisses me off more than hearing another Brother tell a new FC to "just get the work over fast, because it's easy and meaningless." The Fellowcraft degree was, is, and remains the most meaningful degree in Blue Lodge Masonry to me.
You just tasted the meat, savor it.
This is very easy for me to answer.
I expect one answer to the question, "In whom do you place your (spiritual) trust?" I expect that answer to be God.
How a man found God is none of my business. I'm concerned with his acknowledgement of a Supreme God, his path is his concern...as is what he...
I wear a ring anytime I leave my home. I usually wear a ballcap with the S&C. My car has the custom license plate "Mason," taillight S&C decals, and a large Gold & Blue S&C Medallion in the center of the trunk. My desk at work has a S&C on it, and I often wear Masonic shirts.
You could say...
What did you guys think about the whole thing?
I thought it wasn't much more than a fundraiser for Grand Lodge. A lot of GL officers and staff were very happy to pat themselves on the back for what I thought was one of the most poorly organized, inefficient educational seminars I'd ever been...
A Texas WM, during the Grand Lodge Officer Q&A session at the Wardens Retreat this weekend asked the question of the panel, "Is Grand Lodge ever going to publish it's own Code Book similar to the one available at bookstores?" The rather heated response from Grand Senior Warden Brumit was, "There...
I'll have to go back and try to read the words, because honestly, I have a very difficult time tuning into a message that is that rife with expletives, racial epithets, and offensive language.
If someone spoke to me like that in a lodge, I'd ask them to leave the lodge, their message be...
Our lodge has the complete BN-16-1 from JP Luther. They're technically illegal, but I doubt anyone anywhere cares. I've seen all kinds of aprons all over the place that don't match the rules.
Dumb rule anyway in my opinion.
I don't disagree with that at all, and I definitely think we need to have a specific goal in mind before raising our dues. Putting more money in the pot isn't going to do anything as far as making improvements to the lodge or its programs unless we first decide what we need or want the extra...
I realize that time is a more valuable resource than money, but many of our lodges are poor and penniless themselves, and trying to provide support in the community is near impossible when the brethren are strapped with just managing to leep the doors open. The stress levels in these situations...
Glad to hear it! Let the enthusiasm you now feel, continue to drive your journey for the rest of your life. The excitement of what you're about to experience is like a fire. It may burn down at times to just a few small embers, but as long as you give it fuel and remember to blow on the sparks...
Price out the guys who are just showing up to cheat the Steward out of a bowl of bad soup, and you can start that process. I'm honestly not sure how else to begin.
