    Music in the Degrees

A lot of my books are still in storage, but if I remember correctly the monitor I purchased from 1890 there was music in it that doesn't exist now. If my memory serves me correctly you could sing or simply say the words, and it of course had an organ part with it. I think that was gone by the...

What kind of Tyler's Sword do you use?

I find that military sabers are most common in lodges. If a lodge has a Commandery than they sometime just use those swords. -Bro Vick

    Paper or Real

My mother lodge uses paper plates with real silverware, I think as others have pointed out it is to save from have to wash 30 dishes. :) My other lodge goes out to dinner usually before the stated meeting. -Bro Vick

    One Day Journey

If you are going to bring up this comparison than you need to also state that European lodges mert once to four times a year versus American Lodges where the majority meet one to twice a month year round (some retire during the summer or winter months, depending on location). So really there is...

Cell phone use in the Lodge

Some lodges has strict rules that phones are to be kept outside the lodge room at all times. One in San Antonio, TX has a basket outside the lodge room where you are to put your phone, almost like a COMSEC procedure. :) Texting when someone is talking is rude in general, drives me nuts when...

    First time traveler

It can be very fulfilling at times or it can be a complete bust. I've been to lodges and have absolutely enjoyed the fellowship and the ritual. I have been to other lodges where I was treated as some type of misfit. Generally what I do is e-mail the lodge before and let them know I am coming...

    One Day Journey

One Day Classes and a Mason at-sight have been around for as long as the fraternity has, it isn't anything new, the strict memorization methods because a trademark of the fraternity in the last two centuries. I mean Joesph Smith (Founder of the LDS) for instance was made a Mason "at-sight"...

    How do feel about this?

You are right Bro Stewart, that is why UGLE can't sue every irregular masonic organization that pops up. i.e. Grand Orient of the United States of America, Nation 1613, etc. S&F, -Bro Vick

    Greetings...

Welcome! I am thankful both for the book you have written and for your lodge Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. One of the best experiences I had visiting lodges while I was traveling was to DC constantly for my job. Had a warm welcome and was even able to witness all three degrees. Welcome...
