Politics and inertia aside are those of us who could, and should, provide more light just to damn busy with other masonic obligations to make these lodges "rock/"
Let the power players play on, let us "island hop" the inert, let us start providing those programs that folks really joined...
Belief in deity, your choice, and your immortal soul is a prerequisite to freemasonry.
A good healthy dose of "The Golden Rule" is a tenant we subscribe to. We're not in the business of telling a man what to believe in ... but we demand that he believe in the aforementioned requirements...
I didn't have this brother's shoes on. Not sure which problem came first.
But I once went through a lost marriage and good job at the same time.
I can tell you, however, those shoes of mine were very hard to wear.
And, I got a pretty good idea what our duty as brother masons is during...
I believe the true mark of one who holds the seat in the East is the good sense to vacate the chair when it comes time.
Not sure if Brother George Washington said it in so many words, but we should have all gotten the drift.

This is common place at both my lodges. It should be the rule, not the exception among all masonic lodges that understand their responsibilities to fellow brethren.
Simply put brethren, we are here to help one another. Many of us so positioned include endowed memberships as a way to help...
That's tough skidding brother. Tough indeed. I bought an endowed membership but continue to pay full dues to the lodge. I was a little surprised to find out that many brothers still holding paying jobs aren't doing the same. I plan to do the same with my second lodge.

Can't say for sure ... But I think the first reaction of the brothers at my lodge was to chunk rocks when I showed up the first time.
Good thing there isn't a major league arm among the lot!

I took brother Martin's post is a somewhat different light.
Though it is a shame that fundraisers, for a lack of a better term, have to be done to pay such costs as new AC units, carpet, et al, it should be noted that the same few members of the lodge always end up carrying the burden...
