No. Just find your local chapter of Royal Arch Masons and petition. Down here, the council petition is "bundled" w/ the chapter one.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this. An endowment is something of a "gift" you give to the lodge so that should you one day be unable to pay your dues, you are covered (although being endowed member means you don't have to pay anymore dues). Should the lodge fold, your endowment is gone...
As a side note, I should be taking my Council degrees later this month and then Ft Worth is hosting the Super Excellent Master degree early next month. :D

I am not for tradition ONLY for tradition's sake. Being progressive isn't necessarily bad. Plenty of other issues have had to be dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming and in the end those doing the dragging were thanked for it...

I have that same ring, hah. However, mine is black in the middle behind the S&C. I sold a similar one to another Brother on this forum as well. It's a beast of a ring, isn't it? hah
Don't worry so much about the 3-4 letter designations. Those are largely historical holdovers. Only figure out Prince Hall and non-Prince Hall Masonry and make sure the lodges you visit are chartered either by the Grand Lodge of State or Prince Hall Grand Lodge of State. If they are not...

It's less about them being picky and more about wearing something you haven't earned. That is a master's ring. Imagine a Private First Class in the army wearing a Major's insignia. Indeed a good reminder of what you want to obtain, but still not appropriate.
