Down here at least, you'd have to wait another month before you heard about the vote on your petition. The first meeting after it's turned it, it is accepted, then during the next month you are investigated, after that, it is read again and voted on. But to answer your question, it depends on...
My advice to you dear friend is to find another lodge. What you experienced is unacceptable behavior, but unfortunately still does happen even in this day and age. You are certainly not alone in what you experienced either to be sure. I always give the advice, "find a lodge which fits you"...
Hey, it sounds like you're off to a great start and have a good mental attituted towards Freemasonry. Good luck in your petitioning and welcome to the forum, friend!
Well most major lodge "duties" are already taken care of I'd imagine, although I'm sure they could find something for you if you insist. Honestly, they will probably view you as their guest and not think it proper, lol. I remember when I was petitioning, there was another guy petitioning also...

Usually at the time accepted, the Worhipful Master will assign an investigation committee...
Turn in your petition sooner rather than later. The lodge will have to formally "accept" your petition at a montly stated meeting, then assign an investigation committee, then will formally vote on your petition the next month's stated meeting (and your initiation following shortly thereafter)...
Right on. I don't know if you're located in Texas or not, but the Grand Lodge of Texas petition does NOT have a spot for Mother's maiden name (and I would think that odd considering that info is frequently used as an online security question, but as said above, this info isn't for malicious...
