    Your Ring

Here are the four rings I have and wear on a somewhat rotating basis. From left to right, a fairly generic ring (but my main "go-to" because of how clearly identifiable it is) from Gordon's Masonic Rings. My custom Lodge ring, also from Gordon. An artistic sterling silver ring I got on eBay...

Do the FM help to finish school, university etc... ?

No one should become a Mason looking for any financial advantage. Some Lodges do sponsor scholarships.

    Historic Degree

The way they did it was a degree team from the Grand Lodge of Indiana opened the Lodge, conferred the first half of the degree, and called the craft from labor to refreshment. They then had dinner, and after dinner, the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Indiana called the craft to labor, conferred the...

    At what point?

You are a Mason when you take your 1° obligation. However, since you're an apprentice, you're not able to travel and work as such without the supervision of a Master Mason. That's why you can't visit another Lodge without a MM who saw you initiated who can vouch for you, and why you shouldn't...

Re: I'm a young man from NYC and I'm 24 years of age ....I am having trouble acquirin Try these: http://www.nymasons.org/about-freemasonry/ny-lodge-locator.html http://princehallny.org/lodges.html Be careful. There is a bogus "Grand Lodge" on practically every corner in NYC.

I know this question has appeared a lot but I still have questions

Not so. Many mainstream American Lodges got their original charters from the Grand Lodge of Scotland (the Lodge in Fredericksburg VA where Washington was raised is one) or the Grand Lodge of Ireland. Regularity is accepted if Lodges can directly trace their lineage to any of those three.

    Your Ring

If you walk into a Lodge with enough Masons, you WILL find some wearing them compass points in, some compass points out. Good luck getting everyone to agree, and it's something simply not worth arguing over. I wear mine points out. The correct way to wear it is with dignity and pride.

    Educating an Entered Apprentice

Of course, there's always your Indiana brother Chris Hodapp's "Freemasons for Dummies." That's probably as good of a starter as there is.

    300th Birthday of Masonry

Both of those issues still vary by state. MANY states still conduct all business in the third degree, and there are states that allow alcohol as long as it's not in the lodge room. We have a downstairs room in which we have after-lodge libations, and the Grand Master has joined us in a...

    Chamber of Reflection

As for whether it's "outside the authority of Grand Lodge to decide" because it happens before or after Lodge is at labor, I submit that in many many states Grand Lodge prohibits the use of alcohol anywhere in the Temple, before, during, or after labor. So clearly they can control such behavior...

    Masonic Tattoo

Of course, different Grand jurisdictions could certainly treat these things differently, but when they talk about "the least mark" in the EA obligation, they're talking about revealing the modes of recognition and the non-monitorial parts of the ritual. It certainly doesn't refer to our Masonic...

Masonic Employment Bureaus, Can we bring them back?

I don't think it could work in today's legal environment. If you give ANY preference to Masons, you'd immediately be sued for sex and religious discrimination. If you made it available to anyone who sought your services, then what's the point? There are already employment agencies out there.

    Shriner... Yay or Neh

As far as I know, only Arkansas is currently having a problem between their Grand Lodge and the Shrine. Arkansas Masons have been told that they cannot participate in any Shrine activities. The story is too long to explain here. You can start here...

    Strongly Discouraged...

It is absolutely untrue that younger members have more disposable wealth than older members. In fact, demographics indicate that AS A GROUP, older men have more money than younger men. Even after I retire in the next couple of years, I'll be better off financially than many of the younger men...
