Minnesota has a Grand Orator, but he basically just gives a major speech once a year at Grand Lodge. There is a Grand Lodge Education Officer who coordinates educational programs, and each Lodge is supposed to have a Lodge Education Officer, which is probably more along the lines of what you...
Our current sitting Deputy Grand Master, who will (tradition prevailing, blah blah blah) be installed as Grand Master next Saturday, is also a member of a Prince Hall Lodge.
Personally, I'm glad that Minnesota allows a great deal of latitude in Master Mason and Past Master aprons. About the only rules are that purple and gold are reserved for Grand Lodge, and that the Past Master emblem is the square, compasses, quadrant, and blazing sun.
True in some Valleys, not all. My Valley doesn't do the reunion format; we confer or communicate the degrees over ten months, meeting once or twice a month. We confer far more than the five obligatory degrees in full form each year. In my Valley you can pay the fee up front all at once, or in...
It's the same in Minnesota. Since you don't get a dues card as an EA, you must be accompanied by a MM from your Lodge who saw you initiated to visit another Lodge.
Check the Grand Encampment of the United States web site, FAQ's. They make it clear that you must profess a belief in the Christian religion. Any state that is allowing people to get in with "willingess to defend" is fudging to increase membership, and they know it.
I just looked at your profile, and it lists your Grand Lodge as "The Most Worshipful Sons of Light, California and Oregon Incorporated." That is neither F&AM nor AF&AM. It is an entirely clandestine organization, not recognized by any regular Masonic body.
And if a person or his/her Lodge is considered clandestine and irregular, then I don't consider them Freemasons. They are people claiming to be Freemasons, but they're not.
No, that's the correct motto for the 32° double eagle. The 33° double eagle has a different motto (Deus Meumque Jus) as well as a crown over the eagles' heads, and sometimes has Ordo ab Chao over the top.
Based on what I see in Minnesota, I don't know how someone could survive more than one year in the Big East. They are somewhere doing something Masonic pretty much every evening of the year, and often out of state. It's got to be hard on the family. And that's not even mentioning the...
All Masons are encouraged to make advancement in Masonic knowledge. We are TAUGHT that the path to light is not complete after receiving the MM degree, that we are encouraged to seek further understanding. The degrees of the York/Scottish Rite are a good way to work on your Masonic knowledge...
