    Holy Scriptures

A candidate for Masonry, may take the oaths on the Volume of Sacred Law, that the candidate accepts as a VSL. I once assisted a muslim man in taking his Fellow Craft oath, on the Holy Qu'Ran. I consider this one of the high points of my Masonic Career. I attended lodges in Saudi Arabia, where...

I had to be a Mason

I appreciate the work that you and all of the funeral committees do for our departed brothers. The veil of secrecy is lifted, and for many people, this is the only Masonic ritual they will ever see. Whenever I attend a Masonic funeral, I can see in the faces of the audience, that they are...

    Is Freemasonry Divisive?

After I moved to a city in Virginia, I was looking around for a church. I called a church, and spoke with the assistant pastor. I asked him- Do you personally or your church have any problem with Freemasonry? He replied- "The only problem I have with Freemasonry, is when a Mason holds his ring...

    List of Demised Lodges

It seems reasonable, that each Grand Lodge's Grand Secretary, would keep a roster, of lodges that have closed or consolidated. I belonged to a lodge in Kenmore, New York, which surrendered its charter Dec. 31 2008. The lodge merged with another lodge.

    Lodge Dues

Dues are a sore spot with many Masons. My lodge charges $65 per year, this includes Grand Lodge assessments. The lodge is able to pay its bills, and live within its means, and take care of the building, utitilies, etc. However, if there is a need for a new carpet, or water heater, or roof,etc...

    Tilers Oath

There is no "Grand Lodge of Iraq". There are a number of Prince Hall lodges, operating on some of the military bases, but these are all chartered by the various Prince Hall Grand Lodges in the USA, mainly Texas and Oklahoma. There are no "mainstream" masonic lodges, sponsored by a USA Grand...

    A new site for shriners

Here is another discussion board for Shriners (and anyone interested in the Shrine) you do NOT have to be a Shriner to participate. Many of the ideas discussed there, are applicable to Craft Masonry. http://theshriners.proboards.com/index.cgi

    Tilers Oath

The Tyler's oath is presented in its entirety in the Kentucky Monitor. I have visited lodges in 13 states, and Washington DC, and the procedure varies from state to state, and even from lodge to lodge in the same state. In some states, the tyler's oath is printed on a card, and you read it...

    Hookah smoking

Looks like I have found more hookah-philes than I imagined! I belong to a hookah club in Washington DC. We meet at hookah lounges in the area, and light up several hookahs, and enjoy. There are some excellent hookah lounges in the Washington DC metro area. My wife likes the moroccan food, that...

    Appendant Degrees, What's the Rush?

I think of Masonry as a "cafeteria" of organizations. There are over 100 appendant and concordant bodies of Masonry. This is great, because it gives each individual, the opportunity to seek out and enjoy the organization(s) that they enjoy. For some, it is the blue lodge, for some, the...

What event(s) does your Lodge host?

I belong to a lodge in Massachusetts. Every lodge in the entire state is open on a Saturday in April and October. Coffee and snacks are served. Masonic pamphlets, and other literature is distributed. The statewide event is carried on Boston TV/Radio/Newspapers (statewide coverage). The...

    A Sad Sight

Bro. Chris Hodapp wrote this article some time ago. I think all lodges should seriously consider these points: Ideas For Worshipful Masters by: Chris Hodapp, PM, Broad Ripple Lodge #643 Originally published in 2002, "So here are some of the things we have done over the last few years at...

    Hookah smoking

There are several different kinds of hookahs. You can get a 1-hose, 2-hose, 3-hose, or 4-hose. Also if multiple people share the same hose, each person uses a personal plastic mouthpiece, that you attach to the steel tip, when it is your turn to smoke. see Hookah Forum (Powered by Invision...

    Hookah smoking

Does anyone here, enjoy the unique pleasures of hookah smoking? I discovered this wonderful smoking experience, when I lived in Saudi Arabia (1997). I have a collection of polished silver hookahs, and I enjoy to smoke them with fruit flavored tobacco. Hookah is like bowling. You can do...

What I like about the Shrine

Your position is understandable. I am glad that you are keeping up your membership, and contributing to the hospitals. The Shrine is like any other organization with 400,000 members, it has its share of "bad apples". I have absolutely no use for a man, who practices immoral or unmasonic conduct...

What would or did you do?

Here in the USA, I would say "MYOB". However, in Europe, the case is much different. France has five (5) grand lodges. Only one, the National Grand Lodge of France, is recognized by the mother grand Lodge in England. The other four, admit atheists, and pratice rituals that are far removed from...
