Masonic Bill of Rights- Is this possible?

I hear you. If the lawsuit was enough to close the school, then that was a bad situation. Nevertheless, Masonic "Square and Compasses " clubs, and "Widow's son's" clubs, and all types of informal discussion and study groups, operate all over the USA, with no problem at all. Virginia, has...

Masonic Bill of Rights- Is this possible?

Yes. Some years ago, there was an accidental shooting at a Square and Compasses club in upstate New York.

    Attending Lodge Abroad

I am a civilian technician, and I work on military bases in Iraq/Afghanistan. I have been here since 2004 (different contracts). The bases are controlled by the US military, and the Iraqi government does not have any jurisdiction on them. On Victory Base complex (where I live now), there are...

Masonic Bill of Rights- Is this possible?

Many states permit and encourage informal masonic associations, outside of the blue lodge. For example, most New Hampshire lodges close down entirely, during the summer. Many lodges have "Square and Compasses Clubs",so that their members can have barbecues and various activities during the...

    Attending Lodge Abroad

I have no real "courage", more like a curiosity. I always practice discretion, and I take no chances, when it comes to Masonry. If it is dangerous to wear the S&C publicly, I leave my ring at home. Here on this military base, the lodges operate with no restrictions.

    Attending Lodge Abroad

Masonry is banned in many countries. Countries with a majority Muslim population, often ban Masonry. Only Turkey and Morocco, permit Masonry to operate openly. During the years of the Soviet Union, and communism, Masonry was shut down all across Eastern Europe. There is a Scottish Rite of Iran...

Masonic Bill of Rights- Is this possible?

I wanted to start a Masonic "Square and Compasses Club". The idea was for a club, where we could meet once a month at a restaurant, and have breakfast, and just meet informally. We would not be a lodge, no charter, no degree work. Just a group of friends meeting regulary to enjoy a breakfast...

Is Freemasonry a substitute for Religion?

I can only speak for myself. Freemasonry has been important in my spiritual life. I have seen up close and personal, what it means to be a man. I have seen some really remarkable things in my 27 years under the S&C. Only the hand of God, could have made such things possible. And I feel that we...

Masonic Bill of Rights- Is this possible?

I read a "Masonic Bill of Rights", on another board. I find this topic fascinating. Can we have a discussion about this topic? I believe that most Grand Lodges, and Grand Lodge officers are doing an excellent job in serving their memberships, and in serving Masonry. I also hear "horror...

    Rings ?

I purchased a ring from Gordon's and I am delighted with it. If you purchase a steel ring, be sure to get your exact size, as the rings cannot be re-sized. I work in Iraq/Afghanistan, and I do not want to risk losing a valuable ring. I also have an excellent ring, that I picked up in an...

    Tilers Oath

Brother, I have to ask. Being in the military you are surrounded by PHA. What is the reception of you? Are you treated like I have seen some treated by GLoTX "Masons". Have you discussed the intervisitation with them at all? I am just curious about the flip side. For the record, I am a...

    Deep Thoughts

    1. What do you plan to get out of Masonry? What makes your journey successfull. --I do not have any specific plan. I enjoy Masonry very much, and I guess you would say, that I plan to continue enjoying the brotherhood, and the friendships. 2. What do you LOVE about your Lodge? --I...

    Hookah smoking

I only use tobacco in my hookah. There are many flavors, orange, vanilla, strawberry, etc. You can combine tobaccos, and smoke kiwi-grapefruit. There is even a "cola" flavored tobacco. Hookah tobacco is "shag" cut, little strips like cole-slaw. And the tobacco is mixed with glycerin and...

    Greetings from Iraq!

I am the first poster here. My name is Charles E. Martin, and I am a 32d degree Mason. I took the Scottish Rite degrees in 1989, in Alexandria VA. I am still a member of the Alexandria VA Scottish Rite bodies. The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, is a wonderful experience. I have performed in...

Do any of your wives wear a "Mrs. Mason" pin?

My wife works in real estate, and has to drive all over northern Virginia. She also travels to Russia, every year or two, alone. I got her a rhinestone "Mrs. Mason" pin, so she can identify herself as the wife of a Mason. I told her, if she ever gets in a jam, or needs help, to find a man with a...

The Ten Commandments of Masonic Dress

The proper dress for Masonic functions, varies all over the place. In rural Kentucky, masons often wear the same clothes they wear at work. Men often wear bib overalls. In Paris, France- Masons are required to wear coat and tie. Black suit preferred, Tuxedo is OK. In the oil fields of Saudi...

    "Rusty Nail" Degree?

One interesting technique for bringing back inactive masons, is used in Virginia (and other places). It is called "Rusty Nail Night". A special dinner meeting is scheduled. ALL masons in your lodge, are invited. You go through your lodge records, and get the postal address, and phone number of...
