we do it and it is the funnest thing we do all year. my dad does a great impression of a very vibrant santa. the kids have a blast and so do the wifes. we give presents to the kids and in past times gifts for a charity. it was the kids at the masonic home. last year we did a coat drive.
what i want is a place to go and get away from the rest of the world. i want to be around good men with similar ideas that i have about their community, family, and friends. with that said i feel my lodge provides that and much more. i am very proud of it and the strides that we have taken...
i dont feel i joined for the wrong reasons. in my opinion and im not tooting my own horn i feel i do as much as i could possibly do at this time in my life for my lodge. in the past year ive conferred at least 10 degrees probably many more, given several lectures, taught 3 candidates and...
to call the shrine fluff or other bodies ruffles my feathers a little. i am a shriner and proud to be one. i never have put it in front of my blue lodge and only actualy do a handful of activities a year. there are people who work as hard as any blue lodge member to make the system a go. i...
i dont think blue lodge is the awnser for every mason. heck i even get boared at regular stated meetings. in masonry there is a place for everyone. i have no problem with masons putting the shrine first. i just hope all active shriners support their local blue lodge when they can. this is...
Brother Wingnut,
My dad is the all and life officer of our lodge and he takes our new Masons through the program. If i remember right it gives a candidate basic knowledge of masonic law.
i think learning and teaching the work is fune. thats how you encourage him. it would be fun for you do this together. when we have an older guy who has a problem memorizing we teach them as much as we can and vote the candidate proficient. individual lodges decide on how proficient a...
Dr Ed Young the preacher of Second Baptist(the biggest church in Houston) helped stomp out this fire in the 1990s. The SBC came to him for support and he told them where to go basicly. I worked with a guy at my first teaching job who was raised in the same lodge as Dr Young in Alabama.
Grey Lodge 329 in Houston had a professor speak on Santa Annas Masonic history. He had his apron on hand at lodge. Didnt make it but I heard it was interesting.
not defending any one. the jesters did shed a negative light. so did the moran in new york who shot a brother in a masonic club meeting. when we start picking at our own selves we need to remember the chief good that we do overall. we are not perfect. we have enough people focusing on the...
ive been a shriner for seven years and without masons there is no shrine therefore i consider it very masonic. The article that states the opposite is one mans opinion. There is no one true voice very masonry and this does not speak for all shriners. THEY GET AROUND GRAND LODGE LAWS BECAUSE...
to me going all the way is busting your butt for your lodge. the biggest honor in masonry that i have is being a past master. to me this meant that i busted my tail and hopefuly made my lodge better for 5 years. sitting in a class getting 28 more degrees or putting fund raisers on for...
