I just contacted a lodge here in Biloxi, MS and spoke to the secretary. He told me plural was membership in two different States. So for me, it would be ok to be a member under the GLoTX and the GLoMS. I'm thinking dual membership deals with being a member of more than one lodge in State. I'm...
I chose Mississippi, because starting tomorrow, I will be living there for the next four years. Being a member of a Texas lodge under the GLoT, I was wondering if I could also be a member of a lodge in Mississippi recognized by the GLoT. That is where the dual/plural question comes from. The...
What is the difference between dual and plural membership? For example, Texas says yes to both in state and out of state. On the other hand, Mississippi will say yes and no in state, and no and yes out of state, or some version of the two.
I'm sure the State and district have a lot to do with how comfortable Brothers are with concealed carry in and around the lodge. Some Brothers go to lodge in blue jeans, T-shirt, and boots. Others are coattails and white gloves. It just depends on the personality of the lodge. I think this will...
I guess I missed something. Every Brother on here said they would stop and render aid. Whether they would engage in Masonic communication with the person is a different question. However, I totally agree, the golden rule applies. I'm cautious in nature, but I will always help someone out.
I would definitely stop and help
the brother in distress. The who's who would come after. If our recognition with each other is questionable, I would simply avoid talking about any Masonic topic I feel would be a violation of my OB. There is endless general Masonic topics we could discuss...
True, no windows. But, some lodges are not located in the best parts of town. There is a front door to the building that remains open for brothers who may show up late. We have had a few questionable individuals wander in. Last time I checked our Tyler wasn't an expert swordsman. However...
Texas is well known for it's many concealed handgun carriers. I was curious if concealed carry is allowed in a lodge of your State's license, or one that shares reciprocal jurisdiction. I've asked a few brothers in my lodge. Answers varied from "sure, why not?", to "are you serious? No way." I...
Unless I'm on call, or expecting an important message/call, I can live without my phone for 1-2 hours. I think most brothers can too. Especially during or after a degree. I certainly don't think it would set a great first impression for a new EA. I would assume the WM could ask, or even make a...
Thank you for the clarification. I'm a new MM, and will be stationed outside of Texas soon, so I picked up a copy of the book, but was thrown off by what the ALL program taught.
This also happens at our lodge, and it bothers me too. I understand when people are inputing dates, checking times, or for on call or emergency purposes, but using it out of boredom is just disrespectful, especially when someone is speaking to the lodge.
I've been instructed through a recent program I took that the GLoT does not recognize any of the PHGL, and does not allow visitation or communication. When I looked at the 2010 List of Lodges Masonic, it shows that the GLoT recognizes PHGL of California and Connecticut. So, is visitation and...
