    Felony Record

Here is my honest and unpopular opinion. It would depend on the Felony for me. If it involved moral turpitude, then absolutely not. If it does not involve (my definition) of moral turpitude then I'd consider it. Here is my reasoning.... 1) The Grand Lodge of Texas uses the nebulous term "moral...

    Women Freemasons

I love OES, BUT if any of you have been to an Eastern Star meeting, you'd see what would happen if women were let into lodge.

    Being Raised 08/25/2012

I am sure you have been told, but when I was MC, I always told the candidate to 1) Relax - you CANT screw up. 2) Be receptive and attentive to not only your physical surroundings, but your mental and spiritual surroundings as well. Go in an empty vessel. 3) You have the rest of your life to...

Has your lodge ever been vandalized?

That looks like gang tagging to me, it doesn't seem like they were targeting Masonry.

Has your lodge ever been vandalized?

Have you ever had your lodge vandalized, burglarized, etc? Was anything of any importance lost? Did they ever catch the perps?

    House of the Temple Vandalized

Looks sort of artistic... We've had our lodge vandalize once in the last 20 years or so. Someone spray painted "Fuck Satan" on the rear wall of our lodge. I felt we should have painted underneath it, "We concur."

Question about courtesy work from State to State

Being from state to state, the respective Grand Lodges would have to get involved on this one. I bet it would be GM's discretion. I bet you could work something out over the phone. But yeah, this is a tough question. Have you asked your DDGM?

    What does the "Beehive" symbolize?

I came across this rich and wonderful excerpt by Sir Francis Bacon, the Father of Modern Empiricism. I would be willing to bet money that Freemasonry took the symbolism of the bee and hive from this. He divided all philosophers into "men of experience and men of dogmas"... "The men of...

Edict From Masonic Grand Lodge of New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory

Re: Edict From Masonic Grand Lodge of New South Wales and Australian Capital Territor I think (hope) most rational Masons the world over would not let that fly.

    Genesis as allegory?

Some Christians take the Bible literally, some don't. The Pope, for example, has stated that Genesis is probably allegorical. Most liberal sects of Christianity don't take all of it literally, and I'd venture to say, most conservative sects do. It all depends on what flavor you prefer. Good...

Bringing my Lodge into the 21st Century

Our lodge has the same problem, after we pulled our hair out trying to get updated lists from Grand Lodge (and not even then did we get 100% accuracy), we just had a a bunch of brothers sit down and physically call a bunch of members to update their information. Once this was done, we put it all...

Bringing my Lodge into the 21st Century

This sounds like a Herculean task. Let me ask you a few questions... 1) How many records do you have? 2) Why do you want to digitize lodge records? To some this may seem like the best way to "get into the 21st century", but unless your lodge is constantly accessing 50 year old documents, why...
