As a history teacher, I believe Mr. Lettelier to be mostly wrong.
Almost all colleges before the Enlightenment focused on training clergy. No one would have needed to study a working, practical knowledge of geometry except the few craftsmen who actually needed it.
The overwhelming majority of...

I am not the Grand Master, but I am pretty sure I speak for 99% of all Masons when I say "if you have to lie to save your life, you will not be brought up on Masonic charges".
I would say that in the short (immediate) term, it is bad for lodges, especially considering the current "economic downturn" this country has faced. However, in the long term, it is actually quite fantastic and should keep some lodges afloat well into the future, especially given the declining...
Its called "lying to save your rear". Taqiyya is that concept precisely. In some parts of the world, exposing your beliefs can be very harmful to one's health. I see absolutely no problem in bald-faced lying if it saves my life, or those of loved ones.

As other brothers have said...
...besides, insight can be gleaned a piece at a time from many places and from many different (sometimes clandestine) people. (A certain heroine of the Bible comes to mind)
Not to put words in his mouth, but I am sure he means that Freemasonry does not have a "god-entity" of its own. We do not have a specific deity that we are required to worship. Each brother brings his own personal concept of a Supreme Being; and when we pray, each brother prays to that Supreme...
But they are not required to be read in lodge. Yes, the WM must sign them in a stated meeting, but they are not required to be read during every meeting. I think if a WM would like to cut some time off of his stated meetings, he could definitely save time here.
Here are the pertinent Grand...
Kyle, i think you bit on a post that had no business being here. Religion has not entered this conversation, nor does it have any bearing here. The brother above posted that he is a felon and he is a very active Mason that does good things.
But is this a rational thing? We both know there are plenty of unjust laws.
Now, I know that Michael Hatley brings up the valuable fact that most minor felonies get reduced, and that makes up for a little bit.
To change the subject slightly, what if you were convicted of a felony in...
