First of all, I checked your profile and I see that you are not a Mason. I would like to know why you would bring this problem to our attention in a open forum?
Second, If the allegations of spousal/child abuse are true, then I advise you to seek legal advise. The allegations of immoral...
We are our brothers keeper. Everytime I go to Lodge and visiting with Brothers and enjoying the fellowship, it feels like charity. Sometimes I recieve it and sometimes I give it.
When it comes to charity, are we helping Masons more than our communities?
First, I would like to say the best way IMO, if we need to advertise, solicit, or whatever it's called, we need to show the public what we do. Actions speak a whole lot louder than words. Be involved with the community more. Offer scholarships to local high schools and colleges, make sure that...
I can see it now... two or three old men sitting outside of a walmart with Masonic pamphlets with signed petions inside of them. Whats next? Online Masonic Degrees, women will be allowed. The only reason I see why the GLoT wants us to solicit men is because they would rather have quanity than...
An open house could be done as long as it isn't done just to have an open house. Maybe a fund raiser at the Lodge and while people are there, maybe they could ask about Masonry and then one thing leads to another....
I don't think we should invite the public to have a town hall meeting about...
I am actually very happy that I went to the York Rite. By no means do I feel that I bought degrees 4-33. The York Rite and the Commandery are extensions of the Blue Lodge.
I can see how some would feel dissapointed if they were to obtain more light if they just turned their MM work.
Without a doubt, it gives the Lodge members as well as the future canidate a great oppurtunity to get know each other. There have times I have voted on a canidate and not known who he was, except what the comittee had reported.
But at least one of the comittee members should visit the...
I noticed you call him a man (not much of one) not a brother. How does he pass himself off as a MM. The due gaurd, penal sign, and distress sign, I guess could be found, but how does he own a MM dues card from the GLoT? Has anyone tried to file charges against him? If anything notify the GLoT...
York Rite has the rituals that have all of the work printed, some of it is in code. Everyone I've talked to says that the rituals are the biggest crutch to get over. I know I have a harder time learning just reading the rituals. If I hear the work, I tend to remember it better. I hope I never...
Sometimes I feel quanity tends to be greater than quality. It's not just in our state, but through out the fraternity. Sometimes I wonder if the younger canidate, after he becomes an EA, is maybe dissapointed from what he has heard or seen from Hollywood, internet, books , etc. Then he doesn't...
What was it doing there anyway. For years some people have claimed that all we do is drink and party and other irresponsible acts behind closed doors. This adds fuel to their fire. Definetly not the kind of publicity Masonry needs.
The canidate should be aware that each degree cost a few dollars. Make sure to let him know that it's not all at once. I don't agree that his financial situation should be a major factor. The canidate should show some financial responsibilty. But worldly wealth or honor is not a requirement to...
At our lodge, Past Masters are introduced at the beginning of our meetings. I don't recall anyone adressing a PM as anything but Brother. I hope we've been doing it the right way.
That's been done a few times at our lodge right after a MM degree. Bro. Hank Debruhl from Cedar Bayou Lodge does an awesome job. It's a special treat for the newly raised brother.
Last night we were practiced for a Fellow craft degree for next Thurs. When we got to the 2nd section, I noticed during the lecture that the WM stayed in the East and our mock canidate was sitting in the southeast. After practice was over, I asked, Isn't the WM and the canidate supposed to be...
