Welcome to the craft, brother. Your first step on a road that can take you some very interesting places, if you let it.

    Questions about Masonry

I'll take a shot at them: 1.) Does freemasonry study hermetic sciences? Some individual Masons do. I've done a little reading into it. Some Masonic authors see quite a bit of connection between Freemasonry and Hermeticism/alchemy, some dismiss it. However, if you expect to experience...

    California Law Question

Since no one from California has answered, I'll take a shot. When you say "penal code," you're talking about criminal law. Unless there is actual domestic abuse occurring, criminal law is not involved in a situation like this. It's not clear from your post; does your aunt want them out? If...

    Advice for being Senior Deacon

Don't lose the Senior Deacon's tool. We can't seem to keep one; it's always disappearing.

Thinking I picked the WRONG Lodge!? :(

As far as not conducting a communication on Christmas Day, I'd be shocked if they did, and I doubt that very many brothers would show up. My lodge meets twice a month from September through June, with the exception of December, when we only meet once for that very reason. The WM was trying to...

    Masonic Rings

Usually a daily rotation, but I always wear the 14° ring on Scottish Rite nights, and the black stone one is my "go-to" ring for general wear because it's the most identifiable. I had a little trouble tracking it down, but I found it on eBay right now...

    Masonic Rings

Ask and you shall receive: These are all my Masonic rings. The two on the left are from Gordon, the third I got off eBay, and the furthest right is my Scottish Rite 14° ring. If you click on the picture it will go full screen so you can see detail better.

    Masonic Rings

I have two different Gordon's rings; one a classic S&C on a black stone, the other a lodge ring. I'm happy with both, and would buy from him again in an instant.

    Introduction

Good timing on this thread, because I've recently been considering it. I obtained the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8) in the Army Reserves. My highest rank in the active Army was Sergeant E-5. I know the E-5 doesn't work, but does reserve rank? And what proof is needed? I never got a new DD214...

    Review: Observing The Craft

This was a book chosen for our lodge reading group. There's a lot of food for thought in it. I wasn't a fan of his idea of requiring formal dress, but I understand why he argues for it. We're a historically rural lodge, and casual dress has been the norm for a long time as far as I can tell...

Should Grand Lodges mandate that all subordinate lodges have a website?

Re: Should Grand Lodges mandate that all subordina LOL...Hadn't thought about GeoCities websites in a long time! I've seen some lodges who use "free" web hosting services that run ads, and saw ads for a strip club on a Masonic site. Lovely. I gambled and took the "easier to get forgiveness...

Click on "My Profile" on the top of the page. Then click on the "about me" tab that comes up. Next to the question "are you a master mason?" you'll see a pencil icon. Click on that, it will allow you to edit your status. I don't have my tablet fired up right now, but I don't think you can...
