    Traditional observance

You and everyone else in this jurisdiction who sees the craft for what it is supposed to be, Brother. Do not get me wrong. If this or that Lodge wants to stick with third-rate meals and boring meetings, fine, but to effectively force all Lodges in the jurisdiction to that lowest common...

Two Scariest Lies in Our World Right Now

True enough, but a great many of them also believe that "morality" transcends religious dogma and that "the right thing" is worth doing simply because it's the right thing. The most moral people I know (if such a judgement can actually be made) are atheists, but I hazard to make such a judgement...

    Masons involved in Aviation?

    Nope. Texas. http://tl2k.org/history.htm

    The Three Christmases.

No, though I could get behind the "Pan Sectarian Anti-Commercialization of Religious Holidays Liberation Front". : ) I do believe that the whole "war on Christmas" thing is, as Bryan points out, a concoction by right-wing talking heads, aimed at demonizing those merchants and individuals who...

    First Black Master in Kentucky

This is welcome news. Sadly, it is still news.

Should Christians Celebrate Christmas and Easter?

Re: Should Christians Celebrate Christmas and East Interesting indeed. We are told, early on in the video, that an unexamined belief (convention, if you will) is inexcusable. Then he tells us... what to believe. The irony is delightful. Anyway... So "the church" co-opted a couple of...

    Feeling offended

The tract was offered sincerely. Such an effort deserves appreciation and thanks. The explanation that "I don't believe that to be true..." is optional.

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

Re: What would you like to see changed in the Maso Maybe, maybe not, but I really wish it would. Mind, you by "gentleman's club" I take it mean an organization that exists to take good men and make them better. I define good men as those with (among other things) the ability and the desire to...

    Traditional observance

Too true, sadly. Why would anyone want some fancy-pants "traditional observance" lodge when when all we want to do is eat a second-rate meal and then have a meeting (wearing our best jeans and t-shirts) where we discuss important business like maintaining our aging and decrepit lodge building...

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

Re: What would you like to see changed in the Maso I'd agree, but the part you're leaving out is the even higher numbers of attrition. It is highly variable, from state to state, but overall, the membership is still in decline.

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

Re: What would you like to see changed in the Maso And now Masonry is not growing. It is declining. The year is 2013, not 1959 (the peak year for the USA, according to MSANA). The world is different. The men who would be Masons are different. What attracted millions of men to Freemasonry in...

    Freemasonry and the Hermetic Arts

I can only speculate that, in Pike's day, the target audience for Morals and Dogma, had the education (in depth and breadth) to be able to effectively consume it. That today it has to be replaced with something so shallow (by comparison) is depressing, if altogether unsurprising. If my Valley...

    Science proves afterlife ?

Absolute rubbish. There is a world of "conclusive" scientific data. Science is built upon the notion that the attempt to "refute" this or that assumption is a necessary rigor, but that hardly means that the process has never produced conclusive results.

    Homosexuals

Well said, Brother. Very well said. Would that more of our Brethren had the clarity you have on this issue.

    Science proves afterlife ?

FTFA... So, no. It offers no such proof. An interesting hypothesis? Sure, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If we can't get beyond hypothesis, there is little that science can offer. Science is all about repeatable results. Yes, it might be argued that classical scientific method...

    Homosexuals

You are not wrong, my friend. Not that there are not Masons who will forever believe that it is not just their right, but their obligation to arbitrarily apply some of their chosen VoSL's rules to everyone, but such judgement is far beyond what any investigating committee or Mason at the ballot...

Can a Jewish Brother Wear a Yamaka in a Lodge Room?

Re: Can a Jewish Brother Wear a Yamaka in a Lodge This issue comes up from time to time. While I have never seen the issue settled once and for all, one helpful brother did point out that a wooden Kirpan is not uncommon...
