Perhaps, but that list would not include scientists who, as a group, would never make such a bold assertion. Now that same group will tell you, has told you, over and over, that when there is overwhelming reproducible evidence supporting a theory the matter is effectively settled, for only a...
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. No one is entitled to his own facts. You insist on ignoring every patient explanation of what a scientific theory is, and is not. Your opinion does not change the facts about science and the way it works.
Re: Can a Jewish Brother Wear a Yamaka in a Lodge
I must disagree. I find such measures contrived and badly missing the point of the lesson of the level. How many times have we heard the old saw "it's the internal" parroted here? This is a case where that actually gets practiced. Each brother...
Re: Can a Jewish Brother Wear a Yamaka in a Lodge
Really? What Masonic lesson teaches us that "military officers... not show their ranks" or that a brother must not "show" his wealth? Are we all so shallow and petty that we can't remember that beneath the insignia, or the Armani, we all stand...
"As a member of a sect like <insert religion here>, would you be considered a free man?"
If we are free to choose anything, it is our choice in what to believe that can not be compromised. Scientology is no exception. No, not even given the allegedly heavy-handed tactics they use against those...
As Masons, we all believe (more or less) in a hereafter, so there should be comfort in knowing that our loved ones will receive that reward on their passing. Do as Brother Josh suggests and seek that spiritual comfort where you may. And do remember that your Brothers are there for you. You can...
Doubtless, many will latch onto the "civic virtue" phrase, equate it with philanthropy, and observe how wonderfully charitable Masons are. Nothing wrong with charity, but that's not it (civic virtue), Brothers. The contributions made to society by our most outstanding Brethren (some famous, some...
We hear it all the time from the right and it upon examination, it is, almost always, simply not true. So, before we go any further, I am going to assist that you support this assertion.
And for the candidate whose truthful answer is something akin to... "I don't worship in a church", how fine would they be?
It is 2014 and we should all be well aware that there are valid spiritual paths that don't look much like your run-of-the-mill, Sunday go to meeting denominations. So why...
So... you're not going to answer the question about the odds of a non-xtian being accepted into your Lodge?
And FWIW, asking specifics about a man's religion on the petition is inappropriate. We are not supposed to care about the nature of the man's belief, only that he has it. Right?
My lodge has (for as long as I've been a member) a "Masonic university" every Saturday morning. The most common activity is the instruction of newly initiated, passed, and raised brothers, but any Masonic subject is fair game for instruction and discussions. The result is that it is usually well...
Uhm..., I don't believe that there is a Grand Lodge in the world that does not "allow Mormon's to be Masons". What an utterly absurd thing for someone claiming to be a Mason to object to.
Says you.
Alas, many believers will tell you that, "No. The Bible is complete and unerring word of God." Still more will feel free to pick and choose which passages to interpret as allegory and which to take literally. It's all good, as long as we can all be reasonable and recognize that it's...
It's hosted by "The Creation Museum". You'll pardon me if I don't expect a level playing field. Kudo's to Bill, though, for taking this on regardless of the venue.
