DDGM Graded Visit

Ok, so I have been to different lodges graded stated meetings and was wondering. What are the results? Do they get sent to the lodge for all to see, if you were to aquire? Are there ramifications for not getting a certain grade? Im sure there charter could be pulled, but do they do other things like probation or secondary\followup visits?

The Lodge can find out their score & compare it to other Lodges in the District if they wish. There is nothing punitive regarding the scores. The Lodge with the highest score during the 1st official visit gets a certificate of achievement to put on the wall. After the 2nd official visit, which will also be graded, the Lodge that improves the most (numerically) from the 1st visit will also get a certificate.

I figured that it was more like Commandery, but I am sure over the years teeth will be put in.

Having spoken to bro_vick about this and other york rite matters lately, I'll chime in:

The Commandery visit includes a graded conferral of the Order of the Temple, by members of that individual commandery, I believe. It's checking a minimum competency. Scores are reported to the grand body, but I don't know if/how individual commanderies are punished based on poor performance.

I've heard of a Lodge not being able to open (not enough people) on the scheduled night of the DDGM's visit, but nothing's happened to them.

Next door in NM, I have heard of Charters being threatened if the work can't be done properly, but that is usually because the Lodge can't open at all (not enough warm bodies). The GL seems to be more apt to give awards for doing it better than punishments for doing it poorly. We have a "streamer" for our banner that we have to re-qualify for every year, and individuals who complete "sections" are congratulated in print at least once a year.

Yep! I agree!

Right, I'm holding out for the ladder certificate.

P.S.

The Charge at Closing.

I was not graded on this at one of my lodges but graded on it at the other. Different districts though.

Of course, I (WM) aced the one I wasn't graded on. Nailed three points for missing the last sentence of the second graph on the graded run as SW.

Brethren, I'm just looking for a break somewhere down the road.

Keeps me going you know.

I'm somewhat confused as to why there is no graded DDGM visit this year. Seems that there is no incentive to in learning how to open and close a lodge. I realize the requirement each year for the WM, but I thought that this would show an accomplishment. Some say it creates a "stress" on the Lodge and I find that a poor excuse. It's not like a "Graded" DDGM visit is going to close down or pull a Charter. To me it's just a "temperature" to let a lodge know their areas needing improvement (if any). Just disappointed that it was pulled this year. I'm wondering if a DDGM can still request it within his own District.

Unfortunately even this can be a political thing. I know of a couple of years where a certain lodge got the best score because the DDGM and DI happened to be from that lodge. Sad, but it happens.

Here the Commaderies are graded on the Knight Templar Order (performance) and the opening of the Commandery on the long form. There is no consequence for a less than desirable grade.
