There is a book titled "Born in Blood" where the author makes some very interesting points in this regard. It's a very interesting read.

It is entertaining, but sadly not factual

Yeah, Born in Blood tells a story a lot of brethren would like to believe, and it's an entertaining read, but no. I suggest reading "The Rosslyn Hoax" by Robert L.D. Cooper of the Grand Lodge of Scotland for balance.
