Lodge Orator in Texas?

Why do we not have a Lodge Orator office in Texas? I know there is the Grand Orator at the GL level. Do other states have this position? I feel like having this office would definitely facilitate more Masonic education in Lodges as then it would be a specific office duty to do presentations and such. Perfect for a lecturer as well.

Minnesota has a Grand Orator, but he basically just gives a major speech once a year at Grand Lodge. There is a Grand Lodge Education Officer who coordinates educational programs, and each Lodge is supposed to have a Lodge Education Officer, which is probably more along the lines of what you are describing. I'm LEO for my Lodge, and I prepare or arrange for an educational presentation every month.

You don't have a lodge orator? You can have one of mine, we have far too many orators at my lodge. ;)

I was unofficially our orator until I took to the East. I plan on doing very little talking once I'm done, though. ;)

I recently relocated from Illinois. The district education officer is a position required by the current WM GM. I don't know if it will be voted on to continue. I expect it would fail - Illinois delegates have resisted expanding positions for GL that appear in the by laws. I do expect subsequent WM GMs to continue the program pro tem. Each lodge is encouraged but not required to have an education officer or education committee. Until I relocated I was the education officer for district 2-NE, the lodge education officer appointed for Barrington 522 and on the education committee for Lombard 1098. I very much enjoy doing education talks so if I visit your lodge please let me present one of the current ones.
