Both my younger kids (11 months and 3 years) are going to attend. Will have to tap their college fund but I figure the fund will be usless if they ever need this skill and do not have it.

"ISR was founded in 1966 with the guiding mission "to prevent drowning and enrich the lives of children by teaching them to swim" and to ensure that

Since its creation, ISR has provided over 7 million safe and effective lessons to more than 260,000 children and saved more than 800 lives.

This nationally recognized program is the first and only drowning prevention strategy that has earned a 100% safety record."

My mother was pulled from the bottom of a public pool. She thought it was the shallow end and jumped in. She told me that as she laid there on the bottom of the pool the most peaceful feeling came over her, she could not help but think about how beautiful the light was shining through the water. Next thing she remembers was being on the side of the pool with a life guard working on her. I did something similar as a kid, thought I could make it to the bottom and kick back up. A couple of feet from the surface my upward movement ceased, I still do not know how I made it to the surface.

My mother, Grandma, has an inground pool and my kids frequent her house. While ISR costs $75 a week for 4-6 weeks there is no cost too high to ensure they are safe.
