In every lodge ive sat in after the lodge is opened the tyler is invited in.
Some leave the door open and the tyler sits in the door way.
Some have the tyler come in and close the door.

The bulding doors are locked so no ome can just waltz on in

I have seen this happen a few times in my Lodge. At our last stated I sat in as Tyler. A visitor showed up and as they let him enter they also told me to enter. I returned to my position outside of the door just before the closing. Not sure if it's protocol as I've also seen our Tyler stay oustide during the entire meeting. Our outer door isn't locked and I am not sure if we would hear a knock if a visitor showed up... With your door being locked, and no Tyler outside of the door, are you able to hear if someone knocks?

Here we have a buzzer. Back in Oregon i dont think wed hear a knock but if a visitor came by that late unannounced...oh well.

So that late visitor simply wouldn't be admitted? Interesting. A buzzer/door bell could be a good idea. I may have to suggest that (or see if we already have one that I just didn't know about). In your Lodge, when the Tyler is inside the Lodge room and a visitor shows up, does the Tyler answer the knock (or step out of the room), or the JD?

That simply does not happen here - the tyer stands outside, or between the lodge door and the entry. The only two times a tyler is invited in is during a talk - when there will be no signs, or to get invested during the installation. They also do not vote on motions in the lodge - that includes not passing him ballot material - as he has not been in to hear discussions on the proposed member...

When there is a ring from the door bell the tyler closes the lodge room door and goes to see who it is. If it is a Mason there for the meeting then the Tyler knocks to alarm the JD.

As for the late visitor not being admitted, most brethren have someone number in lodge, I was late one time and was knocking on the door to the building for hot min, I finally texted out JD and he sent the tyler to let me in. It took a couple texts but it happened. Also they were expecting me. Also I have been in that lodge when a brother came around to the alley way which is our NORTH wall and knocked with the proper knocks on the wall and I heard it and went out to see what it was, I honestly cant speak to anytime that someone brought up the fact that they weren't let in.

I sat in as Tyler again tonight. After the opening I was invited in and took a seat in front of the inner door. I was told to keep one side of the door open so that I could keep an eye on the door. I forgot to ask about a door bell (It was last minute, I was asked to sit as Tyler 1 minute before Lodge opened) but by keeping one door open I assume we do not have one.
