Grand Lodge schedule

Brothers, I just saw that Grand Lodge is scheduled to last from Nov 29- Dec 3, which is Tuesday through Saturday. Is there a reason we have this kind of schedule? What are people who work or go to school supposed to do?

Also, what goes on during this five day period? Should officers mainly attend Friday and Saturday?

Art. 2. Annual Communication.
"This Grand Lodge shall meet in Annual Communication in the City of Waco at 1:30 p.m. on the Thursday before the first Friday of December each year, unless the Grand Master and the majority of the Grand Lodge Trustees consider and declare the Grand Lodge shall meet in Grand Annual Communication in another designated location at 1:30 p.m. on the Thursday before the first Friday of that December, however, no business requiring reports of Committees, balloting or voting by the membership of Grand Lodge shall be conducted until the Grand Lodge is called to labor at 9:00 a.m. on the first Friday of that December..." (italics mine)

As you can see, the Thursday afternoon session is entirely ceremonial. The business of the Grand Lodge is taken up beginning at 0900 Friday morning, and generally concluded around 1200 or so Saturday. The new Grand Lodge officers are installed after lunch Saturday afternoon. This year, the Annual Communication will begin on Thursday, December 1st, and conclude on Saturday, December 3rd.

Like Bill said the business is on Friday and Saturday. We normally get there around noon on Friday and drag up around noon Saturday.

If there are meetings before Thursday, its probably committee meetings or other meetings the general population would have little, if any, interest in.

If our finals schedule is conducive to it, I'll try to make it this year. I've heard it's an interesting experience! I definitely want a chance to actually poke around Grand Lodge itself. The library and museum areas are definitely on my list of things to see.

You shoud also be aware that their is a lot of cool stuff for sale! I loaded up last year!
Every time I see Clyde, I walk away a richer man. By "richer," I mean I have less money, but more Masonic swag. ;)

I haven't spoke to the other staff but I would also like to see if we can't get a MOT rate on a Hotel somewhere in Waco. As far as Crickets we will have the balcony again.
