I am a member of several lodges. They all do fundraising differently. One had a fish fry recently and raised about 3000. Today one had a raffle and live auction that raised 7500. Both lodges are in small rural communities.

I was wondering what other lodges are doing and if it is successful...

Your lodges are raising good money it sounds like. My lodge just had an Italian Dinner where we raised $1300. What did y'all raffle?

I do gotta agree, ya'll are coming up with some good money. Is that about normal for you guys to get that much at each event?

How big or "small" is this rural area that you are talking about? I used to volunteer with a rural area volunteer fire department, and even though we had quite a bit of supporters, I don't think that we hever had a fundraising event that could reach $7500. The only time they would get close to that was when they would do an annual letter mailing asking for the residents in the district to donate 1% of what thier property was valued at, or just $100.

If it really doesn't have that much to do with numbers in the area, maybe I can pass along what you guys are doing to them to help them out. Haha, I really didn't expect to see that ya'll had gotten $7500 in one fundraising event. That is awesome.

The two lodges are in Bastrop and Giddings, TX. One has a population of 8300 scattered out over a large county. The other has a population of 5100. The larger community seems to raise less money than the smaller one. JD Giddings Lodge raffeled 2 rifles for a total of $4000. They also had a live auction of locally donated items that raised $3500. Everything was donated. The fish frys raise about $3000 twice a year.

I don't know how much we pull in from it, but TC #1451 does some work at the TMS events. It's a pretty easy fundraiser, and a good opportunity to get some practice in on your work, as most of the day there is NO ONE around.

Wow, that is some pretty good numbers for such a small population. Just curious, how many active members are in both those lodges?

The Bastrop Lodge has about 200 total and about 40 active members. The Giddings Lodge has 55 members and about 30 are active. About 10 of each lodge are actually the same guys.
