I've made this one for the past couple times my lodge has adopted families for the holidays as well as holiday lodge meals also at most family events. It gets requested nearly every time, strange... It's super easy to make (and super cheap) and never gets any bad reviews.

Easy Green Bean Casserole
Servings: 6-8
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Cost: ~$6

Ingredients:

  • 1 10.75oz can Cream of Mushroom soup
  • 2 14.5oz cans French Cut Green Beans, drained
  • 1 2.8oz can French Fried Onions, divided (if you REALLY like a crispier texture, get the 6oz can)
  • 1/2 cup milk (3/4 cup if you use the 6oz can of onions)
  • 3 dashes soy sauce (important!)
  • salt, black pepper to taste
  • red chili flakes (optional)

Directions:
  1. Combine soup, green beans, milk, soy sauce in large mixing bowl.
  2. Gently stir in half onions strings.
  3. Add salt and black pepper to taste (I prefer 5-6 grinds pepper and 2 pinches salt). Add pinch chili flakes if desired.
  4. Spoon into 1 1/2qt baking dish and spread evenly. Top with remaining onion strings and an extra grind of black pepper and dash salt.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Personally I like to add some crumbled bacon and diced and sautéed jalapenos to this recipe for an extra something, but that's just the Texan in me talking. Also, this recipe easily doubles. Just cook 35 minutes and you should be good to go.

Say Brother. Do you travel? I'd suspect that casserole would still be mighty tasty when you get to Houston.
