Odd question. If you don't feel comfortable answering I understand. Which part of the world are in?
The reason I ask is because I was assigned to an IC but haven't received contact info on the candidate yet as our secretary is overwhelmed with an infant at home. The vote at my lodge will...
This. Exact. Thing.
I don't think our numbers are dwindling because of a lack of secrecy. I think it's more because Masonry skipped a generation. Sure we had a huge influx in numbers, mid-20th century. But the baby boomers skipped out and now it's returning to pre-war Masons/Population...
I'm a member of a lodge where dues are only $60, and I think they should be higher. cacarter and I have spoken about this at length. We're selling our building this month to move into the SR building here. So that tells you where low dues will get you. Building upkeep aside, I think they...
TOOOOOONNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
Yeah. As a follow up, our lodge has since changed our floor practice night and we're getting better.
And as a side note to Tony, I was up until 1:00 this morning making sure I never screw up sitting in the West ever again.
Also, you need a picture, bro.
I was going to venture out to a lodge in 94 tomorrow night but then I remembered my lady scheduled a couples massage for tomorrow night. True story. It's coming, though.
When I joined my lodge with my best friend, I was 21. Including me and best friend, there were a total of 5 regularly attending brethren under 40. 10 years later we only have 5 or 10 regularly attending brethren over 40. A lot has changed at my lodge in the last 10 years. We're not scaring...
I WISH Texas would have a formal initiative like this. Most of our younger brethren already meet outside of lodge on our own accord, but it's all locally. We have 4 AF&AM lodges here that all inter-mingle well. I wish we could have some district-wide young Freemason meetings at the very least.
Haha. When I saw your user name I just assumed you were the WM at my lodge up in Lubbock. (I know he's a lurker here.) If you ever want to make the drive up, MacKenzie Lodge is run by a fellow Cubs fan.
Yeah. The joke in Texas is there are 6 errors in the Texas cipher, but even the Committee on Work can't agree where they are. At my lodge, we've found one in the FC degree in the past week.
It's unofficial, and I didn't even know it existed until this past year. I was able to go to our...
Take your time. You still have a lot to learn. Every appendant body with a member at your lodge will be trying to get you "to come on by, and check it out!" I'd say you need to get comfortable at the Blue Lodge first. A common rule of thumb is "wait a year." Personally I'm not going to join...
Yeah. The WM and I talked about that last night. The brother who is in contact with him is contacting the Grand Lodge for direction. I haven't met the man. I have only heard that the brother in contact saw his ring, tried him, he passed with flying colors. They got to talking and everything...
My lodge may be potentially looking at a member of one of these clandestine lodges who wishes to be "healed". My lodge is AF&AM. At the Grand Master's conference this year they mentioned healing, but it was in the context of coming from out of state after only completing the FC degree with no...
I would gently point out to that brother that there are too many verses in the old testament about drunkenness for wine to not be alcoholic. As an abstainer he would also be unlikely to understand the verses following the first miracle. Bringing out the best wine at the end of party is...
Don't get me wrong, I think you OUGHT to be able to open and close with 100% proficiency in any degree if you hold a seat. It's something that drives me up the wall that some people in the line can't.
BUT in my lodge, an office is held for the stated meetings. Our degree teams are totally...
We have been opening in EA this year. We have a lot of EA's, though, and so it honestly has been nice for them. We opened MM this last stated meeting, and will again at our next stated meeting to discuss selling our building.
A few things I've noticed: with the exception of degree work, we...
I think you're absolutely spot on here.
As one of the younger members, it's interesting to see how the previous generation has tried to cater to us. There was this idea that Gen Y and the millennials were the microwave generation that wanted everything yesterday. While this may be true to...
