The first steps in Masonry only require one to believe in Diety. There is no right or wrong Diety. Nothing is "forced" on you. In the upper degrees of York Rite Masonry, at a certain point there is a clarification as to which Diety as BroBill just pointed out.

Have you made any attempt to attend a function at the Lodge when it is in an "open" meeting, or a meal before their monthly or Stated meetings? Signatures are not that hard to come by once you visit with those Brethren for a little whle... I know the Jr. Past Master, Bruce Dalton.

I do not believe that I have ever heard a "full" investigative report read out loud at a Stated Communication, only if favorable or not favorable... I suppose that I assumed the information included on these reports was intended to remain private to the individuals.
