I heard some things about this in the past and figured it might have something to do with that or along those lines. I think that is really neat actually. Thanks for posting that, Bro. Benton.
While I don't have anything personal against the Masons that are under 21, I do think that the age requirement needs to be 21 and not 18. This fraternity is a group for "men". Just because the law of the land pretty much labels a person as an adult at the age of 18, I don't think necessarily...
Are you originally from Texas, or did you end up in Texas because of the military? Yea, most of the guys that I know of that got all three degrees at once were getting deployed, but I have heard of a couple of guys that came down on orders to PCS to another state and were able to do the same...
I just looked on my Masonic Traveler App for the iPhone and it did not list a phone number to lodge either. As for stopping in for a visit, I normally tell folks one of two things. Either just stop in if you see some cars parked in the lot and someone there might be able to get them in contact...
I am very sorry to hear about the loss of someone so close to you and your family. I'm praying that you, your wife, the rest of your family, and her family recover from this tragedy quickly. My heart and prayers are with all of you. Be strong for your wife, Brother.
Both Bro. Stewart and Bro. Benton gave some great advice on this. Get a hold of your Lodge Secretary and tell him that you came down on orders out of the blue. This is nothing new to Masonry, but might be to the Secretary. I'm sure that he can not only help you locate a recognized lodge in...
Yea, for sure. Let me know when you are coming up. I have been here for a little over a month now and still don't know anyone at all from the area. So it would be pretty neat to meet you if you came up here. Would really be a good break from the mundane and boring days that I have hahah...
Bob, I am originally from that area as well. From the Burnet/Marble Falls area actually. What side of Johnson City are you on? Once you become a Master Mason, you ought to go sit in lodge with the Brothers over in Marble Falls and at the lodge in Burnet. Got some great Brothers at both...
Thanks a lot. This thought just popped into my head and now I have the answer...lol Maybe I'll be able to make use of it a little later on down the road :)
I have been under the understanding that when a Mason becomes a Past Master, he can wear his decorated apron from then on. Does this only apply to his home lodge or the lodge that he became a Past Master in, or can he wear the apron to any lodge that he visits?
Aw geez, Bro. Steve. I'm sorry to hear that. We are here for ya, and I'll send up a couple of prayers of request for the both of ya'll. I hope she is doing okay and that you are holding up strong for her. Let us know what more you find out. Good luck, Brother!
Re: Your home lodge
RT- Is there a way to get a picture of the lodge without all the trees and shadows covering the buidling? Looks really awesome as is (and even reminds me of home...lol), but hard to see the building itself with all the shadows and stuff getting in the way...lol
Re: Your home lodge
Mt. Hiram Lodge #595 (Copperas Cove, TX)
My current "home" lodge where I was raised.
Valley Lodge #175 (Burnet, TX)
The lodge in my hometown and that I was initiated in
*Just a note, both pictures care from the GLoT website
Anyone know of a good source to get either older versions of the Texas cipher book, or even old or new versions from different states? Just to have and see what all is different?
