In MA we "recycle" jewels. A PM jewel is traditionally returned to the lodge after the brother passes. It is then given to the next Master if he chooses to wear that one or if the lodge has multiples he can choose from the bunch. Once in a while you'll get a new one but no one wants a new...
I received my PM pocket Jewel tonight. Now, why would I wear something that would not let me show this off?
I also received my PM apron and PM certificate from GL. It was a good night.
Actually I understand that for $20 you can become an associate member and you get a lapel pin exactly like the apron. I have that lapel pin. To receive an apron, you must submit a research paper to the LOR and they must approve it.
I have already, kind of. In MA we have a one day seminar called "The Masters Path". It covers many things an incoming Master should know, be prepared for or plan for. This course must be taken with in 30 months of you going to the East. If you have not taken it you cannot advance. I heard...
As I have posted before. Wearing a suit does not make you a better Mason. You can join a lodge and never attend another meeting but still be a Mason and live a life of strong Masonic value. All I have said is you should be respectful to the Craft and dress appropriatly when going to lodge...
I have expressed that slacks (even denim slacks) and collared shirt be the minimum. I have never said that suits should be the norm. I know the TX heat and suits are not cheap except cheap suits (yuck). But when you think of all the places you make a point to dress well for would you rank...
I posted this info on the last forum before the crash of '08.
I read one of the best books ever this year. It's about a high school football team back in the late '20's to '40's in TX. It was a small school with only 12 players. They were moved up from class B to Class A (they only had two...

In a recent post, it was also mentioned that they thought shorts were not a problem because it was the internal and not the external.... No argument with the latter. In my post previous to that I mentioned that a Mason should show respect to the fraternity and dress...
I just got a peek at my PM pocket jewel to be presented to me on the 18th of this month. I don't remember if TX does that or not. Up here, PM jewels are returned to the original lodge after the PM passes away and are used for another PM. They just put a second plate on the back with hinge so...
The Lodge of Instruction requires all officers of the Lodges with in that district attend (ours has 7 lodges). The candidates that attend are from across the district. I have seen as many as 28 candidates of various degrees in attendence. They do not do open lodge proficiency up here anymore...
In a recent post, it was also mentioned that they thought shorts were not a problem because it was the internal and not the external.... In my post previous to that I mentioned that a Mason should show respect to the fraternity and dress accordingly. A church going man does not dress like he's...
In MA, it's suit and tie for members, tuxedos and white gloves for officers. I have explained that many years ago members in TX were virtually coming in from the farm or ranch and probably wore their overalls to lodge. Up here in MA, almost all lodges go dark for the summer because most of the...
Being from San Antonio, I heard a good story from my father. He used to work security at Kelly AFB in San Antoio in the late 60's. One night while he was at the guard shack he received an outside call. The guy on the other line asked "did you see the moon"?. My father said "huh"? The guy...
