Yeah, this is one of my favorites. The GL website used to have a link that you can click on to see a full size of the emblem. It was very easy to copy, reverse, print to an iron on and make your own t-shirt. I have a few but very faded. If you want the full size of this just let me know and...
Does anyone know what the new GM emblem is going to be? I always liked the waving TX flag with the S&C from a few years ago. Also, the State of TX with the colors of the flag and a S&C. Those two are my favorite. Hopefully we'll get something similar. I really haven't liked the last two.
If I'm performing ritual, it would be the FC degree since they always do the Middle Chamber Lecture up here. It is actually shorter than what's in the TX cipher book but it's over eleven minutes when recited at a normal pace. It's beautiful in content and context.
If I'm waching, it would...
WOW! Flashback! Back in the early 80's there was a song called " Hey There Hiram". Kind of a funny song about a guy who brewed his own beer in the basement. One of verses was something like..
"Hey there Hiram
What's going on down there
There's some peculiar odor
coming up the...
In MA, the GL meets quarterly. The elected Grand Officers (SW, JW) serve one year. The GM serves three. I believe the longer term is much better. When I see the "Texas Mason" magazine and see all the places the GM goes to in his year, it's a wonder he has time to do any business.
Things are getting cold up here. We'll be in the 30's for the high until thanksgiving week. For me however, things are heating up. Since leaving the East of Cornerstone Lodge in September of this year I stepped in to the West since it was open and we had very few qualified or interested. I...
I think one of the earlier post mentioned it by saying we should find out what we can and can't do according to GL. Open houses do work if they are promoted in the media. There is nothing wrong with advertising. Remember, in MA they still have to ask and the ads pretty much say that. The...
I love the talk from the Brothers regarding this issue. The question to me is, will the Grand Lodge listen to the "newer" Masons and start an awareness program to educate the public or will they just ignore it because they never did it that way before. Grand Lodge always reminds us that they...
Here is an excerpt from the GL of MA quarterly communication in September of '08.
The North American Conference of Grand Masters reported that in 2007, only three jurisdictions had a net gain in membership: Delaware, which grew by 16 members; New Brunswick and Labrador, which grew by 18 new...
The GM of DC, Akram Elias, is on several of the History Channels documentaries on Freemasonry. I was able to briefly meet him at the GL of MA special session when I was the TX flag bearer. Hell of a nice guy. Myself and another Mason thanked him for his representation of our fraternity...
In 1982, I married a girl who's father was a freemason and a Shriner. He drove a tin lizzy in the parades. I thought that was cool but the hats were corny. He invited us to many Shrine events from spring to fall, at least two a month. I was invited to his installation as Master of New...
Brother Berry,
Thank you for that woderful story. Here in MA, the Deputy Grand Master is first generation MA. His family before him is from TX and San Antonio. His Grandmother is a Daughter of the Republic of TX. We have developed a good friendship of late. Your story reminded me of a...
