"O Patrick," said Oisin, "show me the place where Finn and his people are, and there is not a hell or a heaven there but I will put it down. And if Osgar, my own son, is there," he said, "the hero that was bravest in heavy battles, there is not in hell or in the Heaven of God a troop so great...
Kind of glad to have done things without a cipher, but the fact is, I didn't even know what one was until a brother in New York, a dear old friend of mine who initiated up there a month or so after I did down here, mentioned that a cipher was part of what they did. Just personal traditional...
Fair enough Brother, if you've read any of my own posts you know I'm terrible at my own wording...if you met me in real life, you'd never have a problem understanding what I was saying because I speak so fast I've spoken a book in the time most have said a sentence.
To the point of Holy...
Yeah first time I've been called a fluttering leaf. I don't choose to proscribe to any dogmatic system. Honour is enough for me. My parents left me with a good enough sense of what is right and what is wrong. On the other hand, I don't have any issue swearing in on a holy book. My vow to...
I didn't know much about the Freemasons except that I had been to a Masonic Funeral of a family friend in my early teens. Met a guy at work who spoke about the Shriners and the such, one question after another led to me coming out just to see what it was about. After a number of dinners and...
In my brains thoughts, "One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God", which is as good enough definition as any, does not equal "a belief in the existence of a God(supreme being, etc)"
Well, coming from someone who has just finished his EA and FC proficiencies is the last few weeks, that I was quite proud of myself for having done so. It also gave me valuable time working with a well educated mentor in our Lodge. If EA's are dropping out they either aren't trying, or there...
Yeah in some, I know that a few, without even doing any increase in the per capita, have had to call out all members, and have had a good chunk of them volunteer to pay their per capita.
Yeah that's not what I meant, sorry for the poor meaning. When someone is endowed, their yearly per capita to the GL still has to be paid by the lodge they were endowed to. So when I mean not raise endowed member costs, I meant specifically, the per capita that is due from the lodges barely...
Yeah unfortunately agnostic is pretty vague. For some people it can mean as much as saying I won't declare an actual belief in anything, but won't deny it; for others it is more of a, I refuse to claim any organised religion or set traditions, but definitely believe in a supreme being of some sort.
Ok I see that, but see what I mean about the money loss to the GL? Right now at least the lodges are managing to work miracles to pay for the 10x actual paid membership for endowed members. I think this is a fair thing to think about when we talk about doubling fees due to the GL, or will the...
