    New Entered Apprentice

Welcome brother. While learning the work, remember that all of us had to learn it. You'll be going through and all of a sudden it will just click.

Which one was the most diffcult?

Sam smith and Henry king say the 13 are not really as hard as they seem. I found 2nd section of EA the hardest due to it's length.

Why is it so hard to get Masons to join the Commandery?

I just don't currently have the time. I'm usually at the lodge on Tuesdays, some scout function or another on Thursday's and some Saturday's. I'm also on my hoa board which meets sporadically and church trustees once a month. Maybe when my kids are in college in 10 years. I don't have anymore...

    Plate Update

As it sounded like these will be for sale through http://myplates.com/, they're not available for ALL Texas Masons, but in fact ALL Texans.

    Turned in my Master's work

Turned in my work tonight. I had 1 huge screwup but we got through it. Wished it had been cleaner but you only get 1 chance unless they vote you down. Now I'm excited to start learning to work all the degrees. I'd like to get my certificates eventually.

    Plate Update

It looks like there are some up in the Dallas area, I always eat them when in Shreveport. The only commercial Elvis made was for Southern Maid.

    Turning in my EA work

Even though I know the work pretty well, I am still nervous as a hen when I turn it in, I just can't help it. I can't look at my instructor when practicing and certainly not when turning in, I just focus on a spot which is usually our charter as its behind and to the side of his head.

    Plate Update

That is interesting because the plate is a bill (HB180). Wouldn't it have to be passed by the House and Senate and signed by Governor before its available.. unless they are attacking this from 2 angles and trying to go the old route of having one sent through as a bill which is offered by the...

    Turning in my EA work

It gets scary at the end of each degrees work when you are able to prompt your instructor if he happens to forget the next question. "Look, I can take over here".

    Masonic rings

Here's what the Law of the GLoT says: (h) Use the Square and Compasses emblem on commonly accepted items of jewelry, such as lapel pins, tie tacks, tie chains, tie bars, rings and belt buckles and on articles of clothing such as caps, ties, shirts, and jackets - regardless of manufacturer or...

How often did you study when coming through the degrees?

We met about 3 times a week at either the lodge at 7:30am or at his house in his front room when I got off from work. I can't decide which I liked better. I know I am more comfortable sitting in my chair in the front room of the lodge building than anywhere else. I would also repeat the work to...

Who owns your Lodge's real estate and other property, really?

You sure about that? I guess the question is who do the members belong to, their individual lodge or the GLoT? I will reference what's been happening to the Fort Worth Episcopal Diocese. A large portion of that diocese voted to break away from the Episcopal church over various issues. The...

    Masonic License Plates

Would you wear a Square and Compass with both points in front of the square before being raised? I'm an FC. After my EA degree, I was asked not to wear any masonic emblems until I was a Master. I suppose I could get an FC ring, but seriously.. not worth the bother for the short amount of time...

    Masonic License Plates

You can see a image of the plate here http://masonsoftexas.com/xtra/lp.png The bill information is here Texas Legislature Online - 82(R) History for HB 180 I'm however saving my pennies for the Mighty Fine plate that has a hamburger on it.

    Hello from a new EA

What I do to remember the work is go over it time and time again with my instructor. Then I'll say it all again to myself on the way home. Then when I take my daily walks, I go over it. Its worked out well for me so far. Be careful not to start adding words or changing things around, those take...
