questions brothers ask and answer in public?

I generally use "I see you're a travelin' man" because I think it is a nice, friendly way to greet someone new. It's not a real method of "trying" someone, nor does it need to be. I am not going to meet someone for the first time in Walmart, a restaurant, or a party and start discussing Masonic...

    Greetings from British Columbia!

Welcome. I've been to Vancouver and Surrey, which doesn't look that far from you, and both were very nice.

    Multiple Lodge Memberships

Well, I live on the family farm my great grandfather purchased more than 110 years ago. I have lived in 4 houses within a few hundred yards of one another -- house at birth, house my parents live in now, a house formerly owned by my great uncle, current house which was my grandparents' home. My...

    Multiple Lodge Memberships

I have never felt any urge to join another lodge. I belong to the lodge where I, and my father, was raised. I visit and work in all the lodges in our county, and do the same at many lodges in this part of the state. I am entitled to do so as a Master Mason. There is no reason to have a stack of...

Greetings from a Brother-to-be in England, UK!

Welcome, and I will echo the advice of the others, stay away from digging into what's what until you are raised. The experience won't be nearly as meaningful. I'm just glad there was no such thing as the internet (at least in terms of ready, public use) before/when I received my degrees.

    US Navy

I was in the Navy 1989-93. ET3 onboard USS Joseph Hewes (FF-1078) and USS South Carolina (CGN-37). I wasn't a Mason when I was in because I didn't want to join a lodge where I was stationed. I only ever intended to join one lodge, and that was the one my father belongs to. The day I got home...

3, 5 and 7 staircase with inner chamber

That looks like a really awesome lodge building. I love the staircase. I took a look at their web site, and it is pretty awesome, too.

    Dues

For us, it breaks down like this: Lodge - $64 Chapter - $17 Council - $17 Commandery - $35 I am a life member of both my Chapter and Council, so those are taken care of in my case.

Why is it so hard to get Masons to join the Commandery?

Re: Why is it so hard to get Masons to join the Co OK, here come some random thoughts of a new member just reading a long and dated thread: 1. All of our York Rite bodies are very strong because Blue Lodge to Commandery meets in the same building. The closest SR temple is more than an hour...

Yes, that is correct. I have been a Mason for 20 years. I'm 42, and actually just got called "middle age" the other day! :sneaky2:

    Greetings from Tennessee

Undoubtedly we met. I was SW during the opening of the lodge. … you know, the handsome looking fellow in the West wearing a Masonic ring … couldn't have missed me. You are welcome back any time. That truly was a great event.
